totally agree - its dross. As far as I can remember bank hol racing has always been poor fare - the bank holiday at the end of May used to be quite decent with a good Sandown Card (henry ii stakes) but that got rescheduled - year or so ago. I really cant fathom race planners logic - an ideal time for the public to come racing, and yet they serve up this - you can only think that they treat us like idiots.

Windsor and Kempton on the same day. You can almost see Windsor From Kempton with a decent pair of step ladders. Unbelievable. The Great Jubilee was a top early season handicap but nows its worth £7,477 to the winner. Racing for change I suppose. Seems more like idiots running the game to me

How there can be no NH racing either yesterday or today truly illustrates the complete stupidity of those in charge of "race planning".........the other day there were 4, yes 4 NH meetings all with races overlapping for a sustained period.........Instead of messing about with how on-course layers display their prices, Racing for Change should take a serious look at the structure of the racing calendar itself..

The courses know that they don't have to make an effort to get people through the turnstiles on a bank holiday, so they are very happy to bow down to the high street bookmakers request for low level flat racing handicaps.

The bookmaking industry dictate that they want action every 5 mins in their shops, therefore jump racing cant be staged as the races are too long to fit in to the time schedule.

Racing For Change needs to look into the cosy cartel that exists between bookmakers and racing's rulers if they want to encourage a new generation of racegoers to see beyond the veneer and take racing to their hearts.

A huge crowd at Hexham on Saturday night for a jumps meeting. Just shows there's a market for it........... Pity the track chose to rip everyone off with silly prices for food and drink - £3.20 for a can of lager and £3.25 for a curled up cheese sarnie.......

Totally agree LFC - Can't be rocket science to plan the calender so there's a decent spread across the country. Happens all the time.
