I missed the forum yesterday so this is probably history but I was fortunate/unfortunate to be able to watch the drama unfold on both. Lydia and the team on RUK immediately stated that there was interference and went straight to a head on and very soon after the race stated that it was heavilty odds-on that the result would be reversed. Meanwhile on C4 the pointless Spencer was doing one of those pointless interviews with the "winning" jockey while he was coming back to the winners enclosure, she never mentioned interference or enquiries at all, incredibly even when the klaxon sounded. We then went to the interview with the "owner" by Mr Cattermole and still no mention of enquiries. It was not until a full 5 minutes after the finish did John Francome mention that there was a stewards enquiry but everything was all right and the Cecil horse would keep the race. C4 was an absolute shambles and I cannot see them getting any better with their current line-up.
ruk is for serious racing people. they pay for it. c4 is an entertainment vehicle supplied free to air. so the above contest would not be sanctioned by any reputable authority.

We knew that after Dubai and the World Cup going off air just before the result of the photo-finish was about to be given. (Although in fairness that wasn't the presenters fault, they must have felt disgusted with C4 as well.) But as you say yesterday was a shambles all round !!! Francome - a country bumpkin talking a load of b@llocks. Emma - too lightweight. Catt - was okay, interview with the owner was good giving him full rein, but did slip up asking him if his wife was here when she was dead. Jimbo - was waving the rule book in front of Francome but didn't challenge him when he knew he was talking sh1te. And it was fairly obvious the stewards had no choice.
Generally I like C4, and appreciate it is live TV, they have a difficult job to do, but got to agree yesterday was a shambles, although it was riveting TV.

what totally baffles me is why jim mcgrath who clearly knows the game inside out wastes his time with the various and far too many airheads on c4 when he would be much more comfortable and better suited to ruk who treat the sport with the respect it deserves rather than turn it into a cross between chucklevision and its a knockout
