Francome is hopeless on these decisions
Report dave170 May 2, 2010 3:45 PM BST
God there are some idiots! The horse got carried across the track due to the other jockeys whip use!
Report Muqbil May 2, 2010 3:45 PM BST
Leave out out, joshuag.

There are far far worse incidents every day that don't even make it to the stewards room.
Report Wrecked May 2, 2010 3:45 PM BST
they have done that because it was the favourite that was beaten
- it is completely inconsistent with other decision made in those circumstances and a disgrace
Report immyc May 2, 2010 3:45 PM BST
It could only happen here the gutless bar stewards

The lack of consistency is appaling
Report Brave dancer May 2, 2010 3:45 PM BST

I don't follow the sport really anymore, but what has happened to everyone on here saying you have to just about kill another runner to get thrown out?
Report Grey Shot May 2, 2010 3:46 PM BST
Its a really sad thing for the connections of Jaquelines Quest. I think it was the right decision and heartbreaking it happens in a Group 1 classic.

What a sad shame the rules are not consistently followed
Report tobermory May 2, 2010 3:46 PM BST
awful stuff , never stopped the other one riding
Report penny stall 64 May 2, 2010 3:47 PM BST
Good to see the fancied horse win- punters need a break from these rags.
Report Muqbil May 2, 2010 3:47 PM BST
loper, every day there are worse cases that never make it into the room.

Give the jockey a few days, leave the result would have happened in 9999 out of 10,000 cases.
Report dan hardcore May 2, 2010 3:47 PM BST
It's all about the winning distance fawwon. if it's a nose, and you touch the other horse, you're in big trouble. You have to just about kill the other horse if you win by half a length or more though.
Report Cider May 2, 2010 3:47 PM BST
It was a pretty straightforward decision, if the rules were to be applied correctly. Just a massive race to have to take it on.
Report Wrecked May 2, 2010 3:47 PM BST
exactly muqbil
Report book May 2, 2010 3:48 PM BST
if the winner wasnt cecil trained & the 2nd wasnt french, that would have been 1.3 to get the race, people didnt think they would chuck a cecil horse out imo.

Winning distance was key.

Report askari1 May 2, 2010 3:50 PM BST

Report ilikewavingatbuses May 2, 2010 3:50 PM BST
correct decision all day long!!!! was bumped and it was a nostril in the difference, had to change the decision!
Report Tant Pis May 2, 2010 3:51 PM BST
Remember that race at Devon when after the last one horse swerved right across the course taking the other with it,won by a short head. Not reversed and the other horse would have won with a straight run. These stewards have no consistency at all, should completely change the rules so that if this happens on any course and the result is ie a head or less the horse drifting across should be thrown out.
Report Cider May 2, 2010 3:51 PM BST
imo the price had a lot to do with the dopes on C4.

Someone with a proper grasp of the rules on there and SD would have been 1.5.
Report Velasquez May 2, 2010 3:51 PM BST
The French took the race off French trained Sagace (Arc) and gave it to Rainbow Quest, so the French DO do these t'ings...another day, another Quest...

Any interference throw them out fair enough if the rule is applied consistently but it's not. Disgusting
Report sageform May 2, 2010 3:52 PM BST
Correct decision but the shame of our racing is that the French can bring 2 horses over and win both classics! If the Irish don't win, the French do. Very sad commentary on our second class racing.
Report StewB May 2, 2010 3:53 PM BST
the steward first said it was a difficult decison then 30 secs later he says it wasnt make up ur mind man !!!!
Report CJ May 2, 2010 3:54 PM BST
C'mon Sage, that ain't true. We've had some wonderful horses recently, Ravens Pass for instance.
Report sageform May 2, 2010 3:54 PM BST
He meant it was difficult to throw out a legend like Henry in favour of the horrid French, not that it was difficult to enforce the rules.
Report time to go May 2, 2010 3:55 PM BST
It was difficult because it was a classic and they would prefer not to alter the result, easy because the rules meant the result had to be changed.....
Report Cider May 2, 2010 3:55 PM BST
I believe it is pretty consistent since the changes.
A couple of odd calls, one at Sandown with a King horse and a Newmarket sprint with a Williams sprinter.
Report Muqbil May 2, 2010 3:57 PM BST
She can correct this terrible wrong in the Coronation Stakes @ Ascot.....

C'mon Sir Henry get her ready........
Report sageform May 2, 2010 3:57 PM BST
CJ, Ravens Pass still got beaten in the Guineas to my cost! We did manage to win the 1000 last year with Ghanaati but when you consider that we are competing on home soil, we should not be sending 50% of our Group 1 prizes overseas year after year.
Report funkytown May 2, 2010 3:59 PM BST
he must be fired from the job
Report Stow_judge May 2, 2010 4:00 PM BST
imo racing's integrity looks all the better after that decision. No home decision and no consideration for the financial implications of the decision. They applied the rules and made the correct decision.
Report sageform May 2, 2010 4:03 PM BST
Correct, Stow.
Report Cantthinkofaclevername May 2, 2010 4:03 PM BST
Sage - how has Da Re Mi been doing. Where is it trained and wasn't it thrown through a ridiculous stewards decision?
Report seymourkrelbourne May 2, 2010 4:06 PM BST
Arguable decision - but had it been a French race with French horse FPP I doubt it would have been amended. Feel bad for HC/Noel as you regularly see far worse go unpenalised. Consistency the key. I realise I'm dreaming if I think that will ever happen
Report duffy May 2, 2010 4:13 PM BST
was the correct decision....i don't think that there is anything in the rules that says "don't reverse the decision if a national treasure is involved.
Report seymourkrelbourne May 2, 2010 4:13 PM BST
Not in the English rules ;-)

They may have employed their own rules, perhaps?

It really isn't that difficult. Is it?
Report pipedreamer May 2, 2010 4:16 PM BST
Boring Goring,yes what a shocker,says everything.
Report sean rua May 2, 2010 4:31 PM BST
A correct interpretation of the English rules of racing, but a thoroughly unsatisfactory result, imo, with the best runner on the day losing the race, AND, even worse,
most of the fancied runners in supposedly better draws coming NOWHERE and not even being interfered with by two animals that officially drifted half way across the course!

Something was wrong somewhere, imo.
Did the over-water the far side or what?

Music did best of the fancied on that side , but was lengths behind. Could it have been that, bar the fav, all the fancied runners ran unbelievably badly? Makes you wonder.

Racing for Change? Fking about with silly odds ain't gonna encourage the public to get involved in racing, given that this sort of thing happens in a "Classic".
A very poor course bias ( split groups with one way ahead of the other) or, there should have been an almighty enquiry to explain the poor performances of so many, imo.

And before the usual pillocks on here say it's all the fault of the bookmakers etc, we should remember that the bookies have been hit hard by the revised result.
Report duffy May 2, 2010 4:49 PM BST
pasquier should have stayed straight from the stalls...instead of forfeiting plenty of ground to get in behind....would have won by a good distance then.

travesty of a decision from the stewards
Report Steamship May 2, 2010 4:53 PM BST
As a first time racegoer if you backed the Cecil horse you would be upset cause it was 1st past post. If you backed high drawn horse you were never in the race. We as regulars get used to strange decision and things going against or for you, but if that was your first visit what would you think?
Report ALIEN SEX FIEND May 2, 2010 4:54 PM BST

so why the outcry....100 opinions 51 gona be rite ..49 wrong...hardly worthy of an outcry isset..
Report vernon May 2, 2010 5:41 PM BST
for my 2 pence worth it was an extremely difficult decision to take for the stewards but in all honesty they had no choice. the winner took 2nd across the track..bumping it on 2 occasions..and beat it by one inch!come on guyz. i didnt bet in the race...but its not worthy of suprise..its pretty cut and dried. i feel our stewards do evrything to let the winner keep a race which i applaud..i hate french and american stewards...to penal.i love henry cecil and im totaly gutted for him...but fairs fair..the right result in my opionion.

Report iwantawinner May 2, 2010 6:05 PM BST
Rather than blame the stewards. Was it not TQ fault for not changing the whip. He cracked at the horses backside several times and sent the horse over. The horse was struggling to get the trip and was tiring, thats when you need a top jock to stear the ship and earn there money.
Report Lightning McQueen May 2, 2010 6:16 PM BST
Queally did get suspended - 3 days for careless riding - which it was imo - the jump boys do it all the time, just before or immediately after jumping the last hurdle or fence, the tiring leader gets yanked
across the pursuing beast, causing that said beast to check its stride and start again, usually too late to past the post first.
Report naydam May 2, 2010 6:27 PM BST
Quite right Lightning. Really annoys me.
Report duffy May 2, 2010 6:28 PM BST
