Anyone else puzzled by the Makfi SP? I saw it out at 50/1 about a minute before the off then it's returned at 33/1 after it wins.

IS - I don't think that is accurate. It was definately 50/1 just before the off. I know this because I was tempted and had a small EW with a bookie paying 4 places. I also refreshed the Oddschecker site just before the off and it was all 40/1 and 50/1. It doesn't affect me but I think SP punters have been stitched up. Did anyone notice what the Betfair SP was?

You would be gutted if you backed it on the tote.

Well the Tote, in fairness, is scrupulously fair. Its a dividend and you know what the pool is as you bet.

All the french bets via PMU are on this horse that s why SP on Makfi felt down suddenly just before the race.

People in France bet on all the french jockeys...

If you haven't realised it the 'big 3' have been manipulating big race SP's for a very long time

Even though earlier prices could be poor value, the SP is even worse

I was disappointed to see it had gone off at 33s as the shop had wrote 28s on the slip when I asked when placing the bet earlier. However was delighted to get paid out at the 33s when collecting.

If you were watching c4 you would have noticed a lot of people cheering the winner back into the winners enclosure. A lot of French people were there!
Who do the French bet with?
PMU(Tote).
Therefore its reasonable to understand that they placed a bit of there cash on the Newmarket Tote.

Mikewood, I persoanlly dont touch the tote or betting shops with a bargepole. My point about the totoe is that its not blatantly manipulated it is purely market forces.

CAn say that about the Grand national and to some degree today.

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask !!!!!!

Grey Shot - Agree. Newmarket Tote doesn't change SP. From what I saw and the fact bookie laying 50/1 just before off shows SP of 33/1 was not realistic. It should have been at least 40/1.
