Hong Kong:
Jailed Chris Munce for 30 months after he was found guilty of giving tips to a punter. He was caught with 40,000 dollars after a meeting with a 'businessman'. Presumably that was as a result of survelliance etc.
Munce served some of his sentence back home in Oz and was given a licence on his release. The HKJC were unimpressed by this because they had given Munce a further 10 month riding suspension on top of the jail sentence.
So in protest at the decision the HKJC have boycotted a major Australian sale for the last 2 years - a sale where they usually spend 5 million dollars!
UK:
A jockey is 'strongly suspected' of passing inside info on to 4 punters but gets let off scott free (why didnt we go down the survelliance route?). The punters get warned off - seeing as we dont know if they even go racing this is hardly a huge deterrent.
Interviews on tv for the likes of Karl Burke and Graham Bradley (promoting his business). All banned jockeys immediately welcomed back into the fold.
So to the ones who come on here and say Burke should have a second chance - just remind yourselves if he was based in HK he might be in a 10 by 6...

THE jockey believed to be connected to a case which last week resulted in four punters, including the nephew of trainer James Toller, being warned off for refusing to cooperate with a BHA investigation, yesterday denied passing inside information about his rides and insisted he had "nothing to hide".
Contacted by the Racing Post, Kevin Ghunowa - whom the BHA refuses to name - admitted travelling to the races with Edward Toller during a four-week period last year when Betfair reported concern over betting patterns on five of his losing mounts.
The 29-year-old also said he had been interviewed by investigators and had handed over his phone records.
Ghunowa, a 3lb claimer at the time, was never charged as there was no evidence of contact between him and the layers, or any breach of the rules in relation to the rides.
At least two of the horses were trained by Ron Harris, for whom Ghunowa partnered 36 winners from 439 rides in the last two years, including both the 2008 and 2009 runnings of the valuable Hong Kong Sprint at Ascot. That relationship has since ended, but not, according to Harris, because of the investigation.
Colin and Daniel Craig were banned from racecourses and licensed premises for two years, while 12-month exclusion orders were issued against Tim Connock and Toller, who is believed to be an in-running player.
Ghunowa said: "I know Ed, none of the others, but he was never my driver. He used to ring me to get a lift to the races and, when I asked him what he did at the races, he said he worked with some of his friends. I never told him anything about the horses I was riding, and if he did ask if anything had a chance, I said I didn't know. I certainly didn't say whether I thought any horse would win or lose.
Ghunowa added: "Two people from the BHA came to see me last year about some horses which had run badly. I didn't have anything to hide and told them exactly how the horses had run and that I had done my best on them, and that I give 100 per cent to every horse I ride.
"They also took my phone records and I haven't heard anything since."
