Was wondering who did the best version of this magical but very sad song? Johnny Cash does a haunting version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqbH-bOTa38) a dying man reconciling his life perhaps and brings out the pride and sadness in the lyrics here but are there better versions? .... and don't say Barry McGuigan's dad.

So many different versions it's untrue but sometimes with songs like this the supporting video makes that version sound better , this seekers version not the worst i've heard although it's not a favourite song of mine in all honesty.

There was a programme on C4 a few years ago, one hour doc on this song with many contributions on it's story.
