And ?
Report Mully April 29, 2010 10:07 AM BST
It's disrespectful to families who have had loved ones mowed down by drivers on mobiles is my point. McCoy trying to make out Merseyside Police were being "miserable" is not good P.R
Report Lloyd Christmas April 29, 2010 10:18 AM BST
Not good PR, ffs..time to go.

"I got out of the jeep and my wife asked nicely if they would let me off as I had just won the National. They said they knew I had won the National and would I step into the van and blow in the bag.

"It was quiet amusing to see all the passing traffic shout abuse at the cops, they called them more than miserable f------

Obviously feels winning the National makes him above the law. Whose the f..... then Tony?
Report The Spinmaster April 29, 2010 10:25 AM BST
Not something Max Clifford would have approved of. McCoy sounds like a spoiled brat and a little vindictive. Not one of your best ideas Tony.

This is the best bit for me.... "I got out of the jeep and my wife asked nicely if they would let me off as I had just won the National.
Who the flying_** does she think she or indeed he is? He's just a little short guy who'd been for a ride over some fences that afternoon and happened to do it quicker than other people who were doing the same. How does that make you above the law?
Clearly like other so called "celebs" both Mr and Mrs McCoy have delusions of grandure and are labouring under the massive mishaprehension that doing something that appears on the coloured box in the room with the comfy seats means the laws of the country don't apply to you - a la Hamilton in Melbourne.
Grow up ffs both of you and realise you are just the same as the rest of us, or I'll send Gordon round to really sort you out!

Report guinness2dear April 29, 2010 10:59 AM BST
Dear oh dear...

If that particular law was enforced every time it could be, i would have no problem whatsoever with AP being charged.
Report sunshine1 April 29, 2010 11:23 AM BST
So what are you saying then guiness? Just because not everyone who uses a mobile phone when driving gets caught/done means Mc Coy should have been let off? Do you feel the same about speeding too then, or drug dealing, or how about murder? The law is the law and in this case the law clearly states it's illegal to use a mobile phone when driving. To my knowledge there are no clauses in said law for those under 5ft, 9st, sportsmen, so called celebs or those who have won a horse race within 24hrs of the offence. Nor btw are there clauses which state you are not liable to presecution when caught because others do it and get away with it. Rather twisted logic there my friend.

There's a sample of my logic... sunshine..

No one who breaks the law and in so doing endangers life should go up in any mature, rational persons estimation guinness. I'm sure if he'd killed or seriously injured you or one of your loved ones you would do be quite so crass or insensitive.
Report guinness2dear April 29, 2010 11:39 AM BST
Get off your high horse sunshine, and don't try and bring some menbers of my family's death-or anyone else's, in to this debate just to justify your inability to see my point. I would call that rather crass.
Report Mully April 29, 2010 11:41 AM BST
Should have kept his disappointment private.
Report guinness2dear April 29, 2010 11:45 AM BST
Yes he should mully, but maybe he did have a point ? Perhaps he felt singled out ? As someone on here does'nt seem to understand.

but he s done a harriet
Report sunshine1 April 29, 2010 11:46 AM BST
I'm not on my high horse guinness, I'm simply making a fair and valid point. Why do you think the law prevents people from using phones while driving? It's not because in so doing they risk catching a cold, it's because it's dangerous both to the user and those around him, and unfortunately there are documented cases of people being killed as a result - sadly you and your's would not be any less at risk, despite the fact you feel mentioning them is somehow inappropriate.
Report guinness2dear April 29, 2010 11:52 AM BST
Me and mine would be a lot less at risk if that particular law was enforced more often. The fact is, it is'nt. (see my earlier point sunshine)
Report RyanWe April 29, 2010 12:01 PM BST
Am with Sunshine.. your opening line Guinness of "he's gone up in mine" didn't really validate your view did it? As you didn't bother to explain it until someone picked you up on it. Fair points Sunshine, just sounds like he wanted someone to argue with.

Report guinness2dear April 29, 2010 12:06 PM BST
Yes keep guessing, as i have'nt explained to you or anyone else why i said it...
Report sunshine1 April 29, 2010 12:07 PM BST
I did see it guinness and a do sympathise to a point, but you cannot run a legal system based on that principle. As for McCoy getting singled out, IF that was the case then so what, he was still breaking the law? People get singled out every day and the law never gets applies with total equality, that's simply unworkable. As a very basic example two of my friends we're caught speeding within 6 months of each other. The female with a clean DL doing 91mph on a motorway got away with a severe bollocking/lecture, the guy who already had 6pts and was doing 86mph on same motorway picked up another 3pts and a fine to boot. To my knowledge her complained about being singled out, despite the fact in the case of the guy at least 3 cars overtook him while he was being followed/clocked - it's just the way it goes.
Report RyanWe April 29, 2010 12:08 PM BST
You only explained it once people didn't understand your point.. so why didn't you just explain your point in the first place? Just looking for a reaction aren't you?
Report guinness2dear April 29, 2010 12:09 PM BST
IF that was the case then so what

The reason for his rant on the blog ?
Report RyanWe April 29, 2010 12:11 PM BST
Anyway, all I'm saying is it took you ages to explain it, hence why Sunshine said what a lot of us were thinking. You probably have a point Guinness, but I'm not debating that. Hope you all have a good day.
Report guinness2dear April 29, 2010 12:11 PM BST
I repeat, i have'nt yet explained it.. It seems to me you're the one looking for a reaction. Now please tell me where i have explained my reason for saying he has gone up in my esteem, there's a good chap...
Report RyanWe April 29, 2010 12:13 PM BST

Dear oh dear...

If that particular law was enforced every time it could be, i would have no problem whatsoever with AP being charged.

so if its enforced regularly, which I agree with, its ok for Mersyside Police to charge him. But because they dont, they are being petty and unfair on him( especially since they spoilt his day )?

My solution would be anyone who is caught on a mobile they should have their car scrapped, and if they are texting, which to me is worse, with thier elbows over the wheel they also get 6 months inside. That would stop this carry on within 3 months.
