He used to bring out a book every year - trainers/course stats. Is he still around?

Those Trainer's Record type books were 'ten a penny' when computers came to the fore.
All you had to do was hit the right button for the database to churn it out. Pages and pages of pretty pointless statistics - that often were not relevant in any major way. |

Trainers Record, appeared on the scene in the early 70s and was the first and the best. First published long before computers were used in racing (pre-dates centralised handicapping) and usually included one or two gems that the individual punter would have found impossible to have noticed re the behaviour patterns of certain trainers. A useful tool back then in the search for the 'overpriced' runner.
