what is going on with Patkai? not even in the Ascot Gold Cup betting with the bookies....
Report zoozee April 28, 2010 4:02 PM BST
surely in the breeding sheds
Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:02 PM BST
its quite obvious that patakai is going towin the gold cup or at least be in 1st 3 . no horse in that race will be placed in the gold cup . big bucks could win a gold cup double though imo . shame he needs ruby to ride
Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:03 PM BST
maybe if hes injured he might not win .

you see one two year winner and he's the Coventry winner and now the Gold Cup is a useless race because you don't know the entries.

give it a rest.
Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:11 PM BST
just looked at betting tting . and theres not 1 horse who i would consider a group 1 horse at any distance

Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:12 PM BST
its easy to assume that patakai would have been running theres not exactly been much written about the horse lately .
Report giani April 28, 2010 4:12 PM BST
You would think Ask would be a class apart and could hose up if taking part. Ran against the best in Arcs and King George,s and won last years Yorkshire Cup and won 2 Miles in France so if he got the extra half mile i can,t see beyond him.
Report Rider April 28, 2010 4:12 PM BST
after last years run he'd have been about 4/7 if fit to run
Report hippie April 28, 2010 4:15 PM BST

Report flyingbolt April 28, 2010 4:16 PM BST

He probably wouldn't even be Stoute's first string.
Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:16 PM BST
ask needs it on the softside dont he? might not do at that distance though.
Report Rider April 28, 2010 4:18 PM BST
dont embarrass yourself fb
Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:18 PM BST
if you give me the choice right now if patakai was fit . if i was moore ide ride the proven stayer who only found the great yates too good last year .
Report giani April 28, 2010 4:19 PM BST
Ask won last years Coranation Cup at Epsom on Good, a close 3rd in last years King George, and won 2 Miles in france on Soft so he appears to go on any ground. Very confident if he is anywhere near last years form.
Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:21 PM BST
obviously have a big chance but i wouldnt back him at the prices at the moment
Report flyingbolt April 28, 2010 4:22 PM BST
Rider,get a grip.
If Ask and Paktai both ran Ask would be a shorter price. Now that is an odds on shot.
Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:23 PM BST
depends who moore rode . but the best form on offer is patakais 2nd to yeats last year . ask has not yet proven he stays
Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:27 PM BST
what price is yankee doodle of obriens?
Report flyingbolt April 28, 2010 4:32 PM BST
You might think Patkai has the best form
The Official Handicapper,RPR,Timeform and me think there are at least 6 other horses entered with better form.
Report jonjo April 28, 2010 4:33 PM BST
Superb thread
Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:34 PM BST
not got better form at this trip though have they
Report Rider April 28, 2010 4:43 PM BST
dananders, fb has nothing better to do with his time than argue, the fact that paktai was unlucky last year in the race behind 5 time winner yeats, 15 lengths clear of the rest, wouldnt even have occured to him, ok TF rate Ask 2lb better on Asks best form, well done with your sliderule, but racing is a little more complex than that
Report dananders April 28, 2010 4:47 PM BST
i know flying bolt seems to like trying to have an argument with me. im not for 1 minute saying ask wont win but at the prices i wouldnt back him because he hasnt proved he stays . ide be pretty confident myself that yankee doodle of obriens will definitely improve alot for the step up in trip and at a big price take a little risk on him improving although hell need to
Report flyingbolt April 28, 2010 4:51 PM BST

If you think Paktai would be a 4/7 shot perhaps you should take up gardening. Are you sure you want to stand by that statement ?

Report Rider April 28, 2010 4:56 PM BST
fb, there was a slight exaggeration, not even yeats in his pomp would have been those odds at this stage, you must be the worlds biggest jobsworth not see a little artistic license
Report neill d April 28, 2010 4:57 PM BST
Don't think he would be 4/7 either personally, Ask's class would see him stay the trip
Report Rider April 28, 2010 4:59 PM BST
zilzal, not even fb would fall for that statement
Report dananders April 28, 2010 5:03 PM BST
what do you lot think of yankee doodle. i know he looks a slow old boat but i could maybe see him running a place hell be staying on thast for sure
Report flyingbolt April 28, 2010 5:07 PM BST
Rider, I presumed you meant if he turned up on the day,

If that is not correct then wtf did you mean ?
Report dananders April 28, 2010 5:07 PM BST
has patkai no chance of making it to ascot? what is the injury?
Report doncaster rover April 28, 2010 5:12 PM BST
paktai is not enyersd in the gold cup end off
Report Rider April 28, 2010 5:13 PM BST
fb it should be obvious, even to the most clueless jobsworth, that paktai, as a progressive 5yo would have been aimed at a race he was unlucky in last year and would have had a a very good chance of winning, fck he must be in everyones notebook, so 4/7 is a send up of how obvious the tip is...get it now ?
Report dananders April 28, 2010 5:14 PM BST
im gonna back yankee doodle for the gold cup ew. they must rate the horse pretty highly and have high hopes theyve not used him as a frigging pacemaker yet
Report flyingbolt April 28, 2010 5:15 PM BST
Oh you were joking were you ?.................and there was me thinking you were a clueless twerp who would backtrack on his statement when challenged.
Report hippie April 28, 2010 5:15 PM BST
how was Patkai unlucky last year?
Report dananders April 28, 2010 5:16 PM BST
flyingbolt give it a rest . i would have definitely made him favourite thats for sure.
Report dananders April 28, 2010 5:17 PM BST
he was unlucky last year in the sense that he ran into yeats on a going day. hed have won 15 lenghts without him . take yeats out of the race last year if he waa fit hed now be trading even money ante post favourite
Report flyingbolt April 28, 2010 5:17 PM BST
Oh well if you would have made him favourite that's it then.

:^0

Which tracks is it you stand at ?
Report hippie April 28, 2010 5:18 PM BST
so every horse that took on Sea the Stars was "unlucky"?
Report dananders April 28, 2010 5:23 PM BST
take yeats out of the race last year he won by at least ten . and every 1 would have been raving saying how brilliant he is . and he would undoubtebly be favourite ante post for this race. im not saying every horse that ran behind sts was unlucky but the 2nd horses against sts didnt beat every other horse in the field by 15 lenght
Report Rider April 28, 2010 5:24 PM BST
fb you need to lighten up a bit, the price on the day would depend on many things, but the point remains the same its all a bit obvious
Report flyingbolt April 28, 2010 5:26 PM BST
Last years Gold Cup was a weak renewal. Yeats was on the downgrade. Patkai is a good horse and would have a chance if fit.
He would no way be a "certainty" or an odds on shot.
Report dananders April 28, 2010 5:27 PM BST

Report dananders April 28, 2010 5:30 PM BST

Report hippie April 28, 2010 5:34 PM BST
Eastern Anthem isn't top class and Yeats wasn't on the downgrade last year.

If he hadn't been in the race who's to say what the line up would have been.
Report dananders April 28, 2010 5:35 PM BST
to be fair he was on the downgrade wasnt he yeats . if he wasnt they wouldnt have retired him. and eastern anthem is a group 1 winner regardless. i dont think hes top class but he has won a group 1
Report dananders April 28, 2010 5:36 PM BST

P.s; you can back patkai's full brother for this or any other top staying race this year.
