jockeys all riding exactly to instructions, no sense of pace, no initiative to be seen anywhere

no wonder they don't want sectional times or it would show up the sport for the embarrasment it is

oh and the stake money hasn't increased since about 1985

The reason it is run like this is so it is easier to cover up when its not going to be a going day.But if they has to run flatout like stateside it would be harder to get the money off the working man in the betting shop.I dont think its a bad as the stock exchnage where 45% of take overs are statistically been bought days before the annoncement by insder trading.So the stock exchange is much worse although you can get a lot of insider if u are part of the free masons.
So just accept it as it is and beware of late drifters.

possibly also to do with the longer distances over here- you can run a horse fresh up over 10 furlongs+ so long as everyone sticks to the rules and crawls
