What was the Croc's quote in the RP?
By:
....came from out of the clouds...
By:
"I didn't realise there was any sort of poll in place and my inquiries to a couple of senior colleagues revealed they weren't aware of it either. Nobody has a divine right to call any meeting every season. However, having been asked by Stephen Wallis if I could do the commentary last year and him being perfectly happy with the job I did - which he has since assured me he was - I find it quite strange that the racecourses, who I think pay 66% of the fee, are denied their choice of commentator"

He`s on his way home....................... "in the van".
By:
Thanks Ralph.
Frightening how deluded some of these commentators are. |
By:
took me ages typing that. he obviously thinks he is among the elite.

By:
ready set hes settling down
By:
Gone at game no surprise!
By:
"The response is not immediate"
By:
I think its all his own doing as loyalty is everything. If he gave up working for Morning Line and Channel 4 maybe the Beeb would help get him the gig.
By:
someone is finally getting the message
By:
a step in the right direction for main stream commentating imo.
By:
...stand, set for a start...........Qantas, punched out wins for the final time.
By:
He should improve his practice techniques

"Not the end of the world"...er....3 minutes later.
By:
too many good lunches IMO
By:
booted out and replaced by Ian Bartlett!!!!
Who has a horrid tone and who made a mockery of sea the stars winning the arc |
By:
rambling with poor diction, typical Australian, lazy d and t enunciation. its "saturday", not "sadderday" ffs
By:
Ashley is being given the chop from Coronation St - maybe they could do a swap.
By:
Mcgrath ought to appreciate that you only keep your job if you're any good at it. He's very poor compared to Hoiles, Holt and a few others. He should consider himself lucky he's survived this long. Should be pensioned off completely imo.

If Aussie Jim would like to review his performance at Aintree (e.g. the hurdle race with Saintsaire battling away with the 2nd fav at the final flight, whilst completely ignoring the 40/1 poke on the far side who was 3 lengths clear) he may come to understand Newmarket's decision.
By:
amazing how they close ranks and BIG MAC from his experience with channel 4 sticks up for AUSSIE JIM
By:
thank the lord
he has always been below average but recently truly shocking |
By:
he gets a lot of stick here, used to rate him but becoming a bit of a mumbling wreck, this forum may hav been part o the reason
By:
church mouse, out of the clouds, set sail for the judge/ history?
By:
It's very easy to become lazy when you're in the no.1 seat.
Sir Peter (legend) was dreadful for the last few years, i feel for the bloke to some extent because ultimately if you've been given the big gig because of the way you did it in the first place, it takes a ballsy move to try something new. He's not too old to go away, think up some new catchphrases and try and win us all over. Imho, the beeb hhave a ready made replacement in Hunty - very underated. |
By:
booted out and replaced by Ian Bartlett!!!!
Who has a horrid tone and who made a mockery of sea the stars winning the arc Yeah i think he's the one who made the Arc sound like a Southwell claimer race. |
By:
aussie jim past his best but Ian Bartlett. dear oh dear
By:
Jim McGrath has a great commentators voice (like Simon Holt), whereas Bartlett doesnt imo.
Given the choice of Bartlett or McGrath, I'd choose the Croc every time. |
By:
evening mrs m
By:
Excellent decision imo.
By:
The fact that he doesn't realize he is making the glaring errors that he is nowadays is a worry in itself.
