Well, gonna give this Brave Enough one more try on its handicap debut and heres why...
some may recall in the depths of winter when we were all bored with no racing, a few selected a race to summarise, Brave Enough fell into the race I posted up and wrote the following then...
1.05
BRAVE ENOUGH Last and little promise first time out on the 16.12.09, yet reappeared only 12 days later and produced a much more encouraging display. Broke well but restrained to rear, he travelled nicely throughout and under considerate handling ran on to finish 5th of 12. The interesting points here are that he travelled so well and stayed on in that 7 furlongs race and today will be running over 10f. Will he stay it? well to be honest he is not guaranteed and whos to say its not a plan to get him handicapped off the back of this run and then drop him back in trip. The fact is though that change, up 3 furlongs, often equals result, so one to note and perhaps pay to see if the 10f is the key. Looking on the downside it may be paying to find out the drop back down is needed, in which case the money will only be lent!!!
With the RP forecast indicating Brave Enough @ 14s and Septemberintherain @ 5/2, I would split stakes between the two and hope that when the Johnston horse leads them into the straight, they can quicken up past.
now on reflection that was a poor heat and a poor performance by the horse on the day, BUT as you can see was a 14's shot forecast and traded around that figure only to be backed in and go off at 5/1. I am putting a line through that run
AND...
here's why I will go in one last time tomorrow....
● first run in handicap ● handicapper has 'guessed' at OR64 ● obviously not right on last run as 108 absence ● trainer adept at having one fit from break ● still a colt ● poor 0 - 65 race ● one of the few with possible 'potential' off only three runs ● cheek pieces applied ● 7/1 RP forecast, fair enough for a bit of e/w value and as a bonus
● P Hanagan rides, 38% strike rate for yard last 5 years at 5/13 for a + £15.67, at level stakes.
