Without doubt the best racecourse all round.

I think its a great course, hopefully going down in august

every1 loves york isnt it... except that section where they dont let u in without a tie despite loads of drunken yobs in suits swanning around.

It's the best track in the country. The town is great too. Saturdays are supposed to be too busy, so best to go another day.

Fondest memories of going racing York for me, when Turtle Island stuck his nose out.

Love it. Been to the Ebor meeting evey year since 86'. Seen some brilliant racing and horses in that time. Loved Triptych, but for class the best would have to be Dayjur.

Like York, going for a day of the Dante meeting like last year and going for my birthday again on the Friday in June, and probably Ebor as well.

Class facilities and a good view from the stand, been in the middle a couple of times and it ok in there, the view lets it down. Probably my 2nd favourite flat track, behind Thirsk, night out in York is quality as well, (Jumbo's for a chinese)

Only problem is backing a winner, only backed one winner (wannabe posh) on my last 3 visits,

Best by far.

there are others i prefer,but for all round value for money york wins by a distance.

Only been once, never backed a winner, but loved it, definitely going back!

other racecourses should look at what york have done and take note.they dont charge too much to get in.correct me if im wrong but i thik its £13 for tatts on a saturday,they get loads of people in just look at the attedances,well done york.

Went in 1994, backed No Comebacks in the last race, couldn't see the race so listened to the commentary, thought it got beat (fallon up), threw my ticket away, and then realised on the way out it had won. Yes I was p1ssed, had to fill out a lost ticket form when I got home, but got my winnings

Less than 3 weeks until the Dante meeting - 21 good quality races for £40 in the grandstand, is there better value anywhere else on the British racing calendar?

Just noticed that they've introduced a new group 2 race for fillies/mares on the Thursday as well.

Artful - £17 on big Saturdays but still good value imo.

Best value of the year are the 3 or 4 day badges for Dante & Ebor meetings plus Music evening in the summer where it is £17 for quality racing plus a Madness concert.

You're forgetting to mention the x-factor finalists on the saturday.

Compare the management at York with that of Doncaster. Both big grade 1 tracks but absolutely no comparison in how they are run (and attended as a result).

Doncaster have a music event in August & are selling tickets online for £50 a head into the Premier Enclosure but havent actually announced who are performing as far as I know.

morning ad. I was at the Haydock Park open air pub last night. It was a themed night with some racing to fill the gaps between the beer drinking sessions.

Was a funny old night ad. Couldnt give away the 1st 2 winners, but did no good on the 11/1 & 20/1. Usual Haydock - poor takings for the size of the crowd. Lots of annoying drunks in smart suits wanting £1EW on or not betting at all.

Did you see the t0te return on the 20/1? Paid approx 9/1.

not that much different from most of the southern tracks then.

no missed that,reminds me of the nh flat winner of bowens on the friday of aintree returns 28/1 .i laid loads of 20/1.its around 46 on the machine and the nanny returns £18.why do people bet singles with them i will ever know.lol

Grew up in York and now live in the South, the above statement is not just typical of Northern tracks, same every at racetrack (and city) in the country. York is a top class course and a nice place to live imo.

One thing to remember is that you don't often get the best of the prices at the track at York. Iit's best to take the machine or choose from the best of the prices in the morning.

Chester May meeting - £26 Tatts, £40 County. York Dante meeting - £17 Tatts, £30 County. York much better facilities. I'll be going to both but I know which one I'm looking forward to the most.

Hardly missed a meeting for a period of 5 years about 10 years ago -then more and more beered up louts in ill fitting suits started to take over on Saturdays.
Fully agree that it is ridiculous that you can get in members with a tie no matter what state you are in but can't get in if a keen racegoer, smartly dressed but without a tie.
Good viewing and catering prices reasonable for a racecourse. Pity they don't sell any real ale whatsover when you consider York is home to York Brewery.

Have not missed a days racing at York since 1964,have seen a lot of changes over the years and sorry to say not all good,the emergence of the drinking cult is one,the addmission price in the County stand used to be a detterent but not anymore as the youth of today dont bat an eyelid at £50 a day[Ebor meeting].Its a culture we have bred,was at Ripon Sat and groups of youths never moved from the bar area all day ,dont know the answer to it but back to York best track in the country by a mile and racing quality is top notch,cant wait for the Dante meeting as we kick off another season

I have a season ticket for the Yorkshire tracks (9 of them) even though I live close to Chester and hardly ever go there.

for 31.50 a day at the dante meeting u get into county stand and at 3 .00 u go to the knavesmire room where u get taken to a table and get tea coffee and a nice buffet laid on really great value

Great track, great racing, great atmosphere - I laways go Nunthorpe day often in the middle of the track just for the craic - just a shame it's 200 miles from where I live

Has some faults same as everywhere else, but the £75 for the 4 day tickets in Tatts for the Ebor meet (the Members does not constitute extra value for me, have tried it several times) surely is as good value as to be found anywhere in world racing, Arc weekend aside?
