Report Brownes Gazette would have won April 22, 2010 11:40 PM BST
If Hurricane is 100% fit, Dunguib will need to improve a stone plus on anything that it has achieved over hurdles so far. Dunguib ran a sound race in the Supreme Novices but ultimately had every chance and didn't beat horses which wouldn't be in the same league (at the moment anyway) as Hurricane. Dunguib will do very well to run into a place; and I don't think there'd be any shame in that.
Report ilikewavingatbuses April 22, 2010 11:51 PM BST
was a shockin ride, covered an extra 2 furlongs in supreme and ran his race by the time jock had him to challenge!!dunguib will never be beat by gmooh or menorah again imo!!was the best horse in the supreme imo anyway, given a bad ride, plain and simple, u dont hold a horse up when theres no pace ffs!!that combined with the fact that gmooh and menor are above average themselves, was never gonna catch them!!tomorrow you'll see a different horse, if not, im givin up!
Report Moono April 22, 2010 11:51 PM BST

Yoooo Ilwab. What do you think Barry is gonna do with Dunguib tomorrow in the likelihood of a modest gallop then?

Even more pressure on O'Connell tomorrow after what went on before, during and after Chelt.

Report ilikewavingatbuses April 22, 2010 11:57 PM BST
brian:) if modest gallop i think he'll have him up with the pace and ready to challenge when ready!!i think hes very uncomplicated, yes his jumping is sh!te, lets be honest but the fact is it doesnt inconvenience him, thats the main thing!im pretty sure he'll win!!there i said it lol no fence sitting!!if he doesnt, ill accept it but just cant have it that menorah and gmooh are better than him based on his ride in supreme!if he isnt placed tomorrow ill accept the supreme result how about that!!
Report RyanWe April 22, 2010 11:58 PM BST
LOL.. I just wish that 'Brian' was more like Barry Geraghty.. obviously why I got mixed up. Am sure Barry wouldn't of given that ride at Chelt!
Report Wicketd April 23, 2010 12:01 AM BST
barry would have stuck to tactics just like any other jockey, brian had nothing to do with it. Brian also went on to have two good winners the next day also. any blame on him is unfair.

Anyway, I also believe Dunguib will win tomorrow, but to say his jumping doesn't inconvenience him is silly. It definitely inconvenienced him at Cheltenham at the last. Very, very slow jump. He wouldn't have won from there anyway, but if there's a few in with a shout and he jumps like that when he needs to be quick I'd be worried. Hopefully though when he jumps the last tomorrow he's the only horse in with a shout :).
Report ilikewavingatbuses April 23, 2010 12:02 AM BST
haha!yeah no doubt!!i mean this is just an opinion, im sure there bundles waitin to lay him but just on what i saw, i think hes better than supreme result, but i can see the arguments against!!i think he'll run a stormer tomorrow!!i think only h'fly can beat him!
Report RyanWe April 23, 2010 12:02 AM BST
The thing is I don't think Dunguib can go a modest gallop. Isn't he normally keen, hence why they've been keeping him at the back behind other horses to try settle him. If he is at the front like you say, they won't be hanging around. TBH him running from near the front never seemed to do him any damage, I don't really understand why they need to switch him off.. jumps a lot better with daylight too. Can't wait for tomorrow anyway, am on the Fly ante post at 9/2. Talk that Dunguib might not run if too quick, which would be great for my bet.. but I'd rather him run, just for the spectacle of a fascinating race.
Report ilikewavingatbuses April 23, 2010 12:04 AM BST
well of course it does inconvenience him, but what i mean is, if he wouldve been at the last with menorah and gmooh, regardless of how bad he jumps it, there is only one winner!!
Report Wicketd April 23, 2010 12:05 AM BST
fair enough, although I'm still not entirely sure I agree considering how short the run-in was.

I do too think he'll win very nicely though, so here's hoping we see what he's really made of! :)

extra 2 furlongs.... walofs
Report RyanWe April 23, 2010 12:07 AM BST
Yeah I don't want to blame Brian, I know he is following orders.. just think it's wrong that he has to follow the orders to the letter. Is he just a robot on a horse who they feed instructions to.. and they forgot to compute with him to be up with the pace if there was no pace. Or was it.. this is Chelt.. going no pace is unthinkable, so let's not bother thinking up that scenario. BTW I had backed Menorah and GMOOH. Just feel like the owner/trainer is actually riding the horse and not Brian.
Report ilikewavingatbuses April 23, 2010 12:09 AM BST
see being held up with a modest gallop in most races and hes won but hes not taking on horses of similar ability so he cant afford to give them too much respect (a la supreme)...nice price, yeah h'fly massive chance, was my champion pick b4 injury, outstanding horse, dunguib will have to put in his best to beat a 100% h'fly!!

But anyway lost over 100 from betting him Ante post instead of waiting.. silly me. Also had LYG 16/1 EW. Before that race, Done both Quevega at 4/1 and Bensalem at 16/1.. if only I bothered to do F/C's haha! My only 2 winners, other horses was abysmal before that. To put into context how ridicilous Dunguib's price is, he is the joint 2nd lowest rated horse in the field yet he is joint favourite, granted there is potential improvement to come from him but there's no way I can have him in a race of this standard! That would be too skinny even if he had won at Cheltenham plus the ground likely not to suit!

Dunguib came there to win the race at Chelters but colnt quicken imo.
Report RyanWe April 23, 2010 1:21 AM BST
Well BSM could of beat him I guess, clearly didn't run his race at Chelt. Could tell how disappointed Willie was as Flat Out finished in front of him.. will be a good horse next season anyway, novice chasing isn't he?
Report RyanWe April 23, 2010 1:25 AM BST
I don't really blame Dunguib for losing at Chelt though Destroyer. Don't really think there is that much separating the max speed of the top horses, just the difference in their ability to keep that speed endurance and not overstep their lactate threshold.. in which something Dunguib looked to have higher than other horses.. we'll see tomorrow if it's true. Just too far away at Chelt for me, can't let quality horses like GMOOH and Menorah get that much of a headstart.
Report Big Bucks John April 23, 2010 1:27 AM BST
I really can't understand Punjabi's price, with the ground how it is I fail to see how he is bigger than Solwhit, I can't see why Dunguib is shorter purely on form! The only horse I would have shorter possibly is Hurricane Fly but even with that horse hes had his problems been off for a long time and still to prove he is as good as he potentially has promised espesh on that Go Native form from a while ago.
Report ilikewavingatbuses April 23, 2010 1:29 AM BST

Report RyanWe April 23, 2010 1:33 AM BST
I understand why Punjabi is bigger though, don't think he's shown form similar to that of last year. Definitely has to bounce back from poor run at Chelt. Think Solwhit has a legitimate excuse for poor CH showing with all that drama week before and has seemed pretty versatile with slow and strong paced races. Think people read too much in to Solwhit winning over 20f which would therefore make him not quick enough for 16f.. obviously not everyone thinks like this, but people do. Anyway GL with Punjabi!

For those who question Hurricane Fly's fitness I would like to remind you all of Quevega going in Cheltenham. Similar sentiments from WM but when it came to it she was revved up to 99% for the day. I would go so far as to argue that his freshness actually gives him an advantage. Look at the way he hosed up in the novice event here last year after missing Chelt. WM will have him at the best he can get him and for me the question marks over the others make 7/2 an excellent bet. in fact fck it i'm lumping on :-)
