Workrider at various times throughout the race the horse appeared to be going very easily indeed. Half way round I was very happy with my bet on him and he just seemed to drift out the back for no apparent reason. If anything was amiss surely the jock would have pulled him up ?

c.k. agree with your assement .the thing about it was as you say he was going well till after h/way .having made the odd blip after h/way he never really made a bad blunder all the way round ,it was as if the jock senced something was amiss but he obviously felt that his chance had gone .

I would have no problem with this Workrider if the jockey had pulled him up. Why did he continue to put him over the fences ? How would owners/trainer have felt if the "lacklustre" horse fell and broke a leg ?

Did Condom have a stethoscoope on him ? The plain and simple fact is, if, and i say IF the jockey at any stage thought the hoss was'nt right then he would have pulled it up.. He did'nt...

guinness, lets get this right ,it was a top class race that the stable wanted to win ,its not as if it was a seller ffs .i backed the winner of the race so i'm not talking through my pocket .what annoys me bigtime is people implying he pulled the horse .

How do you know the stable wanted to win the race ? Getting him round safe and sound was what i kept hearing ? All the vibes were p1ss poor before the race, Condom making excuses before it even got on the track, (suffers with it's breathing etc) Putting the hoss up in trip was as clever as window licking. I personally was'nt happy from the first fence..

guinness , i really cant see your point .to say he was not happy with the horse and should have pulled it up is an opinion i would agree with , but having ridden racehorses myself i know its not always easy to know if the horse is suffering from something or if he's keeping something back for itself .just my take on it not saying i'm right.

Listen workrider, we all have opinions, right or wrong.
My point is it looked BAD. Whatever anyones opinion, is that good for Racing ? No it is'nt (hence all the fred's on it)
If Condom thought Zaar was wrong, then he pulls it up... He did'nt, he cruised round at the back without once trying to get into the race, not even a shake of the reins .. That now gives carte blanche to any jock to do that. I repeat, it looked BAD

Trust me connections wanted to win this. The horse is very quirkey and if he doesnt want to go he doesnt go, it was barely trainable last season. The horse wasnt going to pick up for Davy for genuine reasons. He should have pulled it up but coaxing it around will do it no harm at all, end of season. Race too many simple as

Tbh response i got was they didnt know what Davy was at but they accept that the horse wasnt able to pick up and they werent going killing it as it would more then likely lead to a fall. It did the exact same thing in its final race last season, have a look at that race if you like just wouldnt pick up at all. Colm is one of the most honest men in the game btw

having backed zaarito (thought process was only had 2 jump round 2 win and at the price it was a risk worth taking) my persenal take on it is that having jumped the 1st 6 fences condon, who like me thought that any time the horse was gonna deck 1 and put him on his arse, that even though 2 all punters it would look terrible, it would therefore b wise to just safely school the horse round at a sensible pace so horse and jockey lived 2 fight another day.

Correct it did look very , very bad imo. Didn't have a bet , but watch all top races. I thought Zaarito could win a King George Gold Cup if they could sort it's jumping out , so tended to watch the horse rather than the race. I didn't once see him attempt to push the horse even when the rest of the field started to. It was a well fancied horse carrying lots of money .
Perception & the public.
The racing authorities & media experts are alwayas going about perception , using the whip , jockeys / trainers speaking to the media , exhausted horses not being pulled up etc . Well what about rides like that !

Intelligent observations imo

is it possible that jockey just bottled it, horse jumped like a accident waitin 2 happen although a mccoy might ave slung it at a few more to galvenise it in to some sort of response?

Any1 defending the way they had that horse ridden at the back not trying to even get into the race are deluded. I try to defend this sport but when you see runs like that from a good horse like he is it made me think why do I even watch it. Schooling in public is happening far too often imo. When are the racing authorities going to bring a stop to this because that is the only 'change' racing needs.
