Master Beveled - genuine question (requesting an honest reply) - When did you last attend a Brighton meeting??
Report sparrow April 20, 2010 8:42 PM BST
What about the meeting at Towcester 10 times worse
Report Moonlight April 20, 2010 8:55 PM BST
Why should a meeting be cancelled or course closed just because you don't like it?

These weird posts keep coming up with the same refrain: close racing down to improve it.

If you don't like a meeting don't take an interest. Take the dog for a walk or something.

Fair point Moonlight, and see my post above. BUT lots of folks come on here**ging off Brighton and other course based on an experience 10/20 years ago. Brighton in particular is much improved, and on a nice day is a decent experience of flat racing at its reasonable norm.

another gig for 4 poofs and a piano?
Report sparrow April 20, 2010 9:10 PM BST
The thing is these people only seem to want to pick on low grade flat racing they hardly mention low grade jump meetings.
Why they feel the need to inform others of their dislikes is beyond me.
Report Vubiant April 20, 2010 9:12 PM BST
Well Operatic Society loved the place and it's 12f track is very similar in contours to Epsom ...so there.
Report wolfatthedoor April 20, 2010 9:18 PM BST
brighton and towcester both unique and vastly enjoyable in their own way.maybe people want to see all races in a concrete bowl like meydan.well i for one do not and love the variety.and btw who really gives a toss if the racing is low quality.a winner at cartmel pays the same as royal ascot
Report blackbarn April 20, 2010 9:25 PM BST
Blackpool Tower - Witty or what?. Assuming yours was an elementary attempt at humour, racing definitely needs to do more to attract "major minority" groups. Never understood why Brighton doesnt have a meeting for Pride Weekend.
Report kennythebetboy April 20, 2010 11:29 PM BST
Best course in England to ready one for a punt next time out.

Run it at Brighton to finish 7th. or 8th.. gets handicap mark down a few pounds, line it up for a decent handicap at Newmarket, Leicester or any galloping track and back it off the boards.
After trotting up, subsequent stewards enquiry asks for reasons for improvement........didn't act on the course (Brighton) last time out. Ready made excuse......used by John Sutcliffe (The Master) and other gambling stables.

Look at those horses that ran down the field tonight from gambling stables........make a note of any backed nto.
