thanks beast, just read it,wonder who the guinea pigs are?what a waste of time.
Report infomaniac April 19, 2010 10:02 PM BST
Are you a Bill or a Ben Ribero ?!
Report ribero1 April 19, 2010 10:04 PM BST
in this case definitely a brian info.
Report 718 April 19, 2010 10:05 PM BST
What, briefly, are seen as the pros and cons?

I guess granularity ie more refined odds is a Plus
To non-racing people Decimals easeir to read
Having to change board software (possible minus - how much would that be?)

Any other big issues?
Report ribero1 April 19, 2010 10:28 PM BST
surely if the big boys agree they will make sure the odds are in their favour?
Report wasnot April 19, 2010 10:37 PM BST
I heard 3 possible guinea pigs are no.s 1, 5 & 153 on the Ascot Flat Tatts list ribero1.
Report penzance April 19, 2010 10:46 PM BST
what would 5/2 be? 2.5 or 3.5.
Report ribero1 April 19, 2010 10:49 PM BST
thanks wasnot, perhaps no.5.will have rob hughes on the stool?ffs!
Report Calimero April 19, 2010 11:00 PM BST
3.5
Report byrne1 April 20, 2010 12:06 AM BST
2.5 would be 6/4
Report tobermory April 20, 2010 12:27 AM BST
be some seething pensioners when they get paid at 6/4

' two and a half to one!'
Report all over April 20, 2010 12:46 AM BST
stupid to introduce this
Report hallgate April 20, 2010 12:59 AM BST
bookies fault by trying to confuse/steal from punters with crazy fraction prices,17/20 anyone 13/10 17/5..sureas hell know deciamal os easier to understand and punters can see where the bad price bookies are
Report hallgate April 20, 2010 1:00 AM BST
pensioners? yeah right sure they understand fractions that are being bounded about now
Report wasnot April 20, 2010 9:21 AM BST
All decimal odds are to be displayed as "to 1". There fore 5/2 will be 2.5, 11/10 will be 1.1 etc.
Report swift-tuttle April 20, 2010 9:42 AM BST
^ thought this would happen

neither nowt nor summat
Report swift-tuttle April 20, 2010 9:47 AM BST
the decimal odds granularity will not be evident if the fractional odds are just converted
Report Stake & Chips April 20, 2010 9:50 AM BST
Why don't they just put Betfair odds up on the boards?

Simples.
Report REGIT April 20, 2010 10:16 AM BST
complete and utter waste of time.would love to bet between 2 boards with decimal oddds.
Report onlooker April 20, 2010 10:20 AM BST
Not so sure about that REGIT.

You would be displaying 3 = 3/1

Next door's decimal board would be displaying 4 = also meaning 3/1

..... Human nature being what it is ........ there are bound to be some - if not many, 'novices' who think that .... :(
Report ribero1 April 20, 2010 10:26 AM BST
that would be a valid point onlooker but as you can see 3/1 is 3 not 4,fortunately we dont all live in exchange land.
Report onlooker April 20, 2010 10:28 AM BST
Just seen wasnot's earlier post - saying that he decimal odds will not be displayed as in other countries, and like Betfair, with the Stake included.

In which case - assuming wasnot is correct - then my above comparison would not apply.
Report 718 April 20, 2010 10:31 AM BST
True swift-tuttle.

You would hope someone would have the nous to offer 3.75 for a horse that was a weak 7/2 on course though

Let the decimals lead, not the fractions!
Report wasnot April 20, 2010 10:34 AM BST
onlooker - to the best of my knowledge only t0te and exchanges display odds with stake included. It is all nonsence but to my mind this way is simpler for thickos to understand, which is what RFC is all about.
Report wasnot April 20, 2010 10:35 AM BST
If next door offers 3.75 I could offer 3.751. They'd love that in the shops.
Report 718 April 20, 2010 10:37 AM BST
They'd return 3.5 on course :)
Report Stake & Chips April 20, 2010 10:39 AM BST
Surely it has to be an all or nothing approach?

How will they judge it's success or otherwise?
