Funky Lady, so impressive when beating a field of highly-rated newcomers at Newbury on Friday, came back with a fractured knee and is "out for three months".
Pat Fahey's filly, who cost 300,000gns as a yearling and whose second dam is the dam of last season's Horse of the Year Sea The Stars, looked an exciting prospect, so the news comes as a big disappointment.
Hannon said:"We have made a terrific start, but it is a big blow losing Funky Lady and I feel really sorry for Pat. She'll be out until the second half of the summer at least, but, hopefully, she'll return as good as new, and judged on her Newbury debut she could be anything."
