Last Flat season when the stands' rail at Folkestone was watered to try and even out the draw bias - and the bias was turned on its head.
I noticed recently that Neil McKenzie-Ross doesn't appear to be the CoC there anymore - did he pay the price for admitting to it? |

Everyone seeing a rider jump off a horse that had drifted from odds on favourite to the outsider of four and then the BHA decide that he'd done nothing wrong.

The BHA letting Dean McClown ride on, even though he'd been found guilty of a serious rule breach, only for him to give a horse of Whitakers an easy run at Southwell which even the stewards noticed.

A Jim Old ride for Fred Rimell apparently. Rimell said to Old in the unsaddling enclosure "If Jesus Christ rode his f***** donkey like you just rode that horse, then he deserved to be crucified".

the best was in 1855 when four famous Nh Gentleman riders got a special race up for them as they were all skint.and it was nearing xmas.
The meeting was Shrewsbury And a 4 runner sprint over 5 furlongs was arranged. by accident another horse was entered, so they all decided to let that one win that they backed to win £2500 on credit. At the start being ridden by a real jockey, carrying a 5lb penelty. Was left at the start, All the gents stopped and come back "It was only fair said the one.. In the new off the winner was the one they required at 5/2. And a merry X mas was had by all. Who said racing is benter now? cubone.co.uk |
