Nick Luck is the best guy on any racing medium bar none-- The lad knows more than most about the game - hes a brilliant presenter and will become in time the next Sir Peter.
His contribution to RUK and racing in general is a credit to his dedication.
I don't care where he was educated or if he even went to schooll the lad is simply the best END OF
Report diddles April 16, 2010 8:33 AM BST

Peter Allis, whose commentaries I don't particularly like, but is a pretty subtle guy, reckons commentators and pundits are PAID BY THE WORD,as they ramble on and on and on not saying anything new ,or helpful,a lot of the time.He is not far off the mark.
I remember Steve Mellish pulling Lydia up on one of her questions re. a small field race, stating THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO SAY,WE HAVE DONE THIS RACE.
Report sj April 16, 2010 8:52 AM BST
being a london myself think steve mellish is best pundit, must say i am warming to Nick Luck but do have to have my encylopedia at the ready at times
Report duncan idaho April 16, 2010 8:58 AM BST
i am with mad.dog on this one......Nick is an excellent presenter but his uber-confidence makes everything he says sound like the Gospel truth whereas that is often far from the case...seems to have convinced most on here tho!!
Report Outpost April 16, 2010 9:01 AM BST
there are no TV racing presenters worth listening to.

they are all more than happy to listen to themselves and some of them just do not care about the punters but are mainly interested in promoting themselves.
Report unbiased April 16, 2010 9:20 AM BST
That is the point outpost,in most sports the presenters get carried away with their own importance, forgetting what their job really is about.Too image conscious. They seem to forget that many sportwatchers, especially when it comes to horseracing,do know their subject.
Report Facts April 16, 2010 11:12 AM BST
Nick Luck is an excellent presenter.

Duncan,

See also J H M Gosden. They lap up his well-spoken, authorative prose. Can't get enough.

Glasgow Brian, I just wondered out of interest, as you seem to dislike Nick Luck so much because you think he talks to much and is a poor tipster, could you let us know your views on Zoey Bird/Hannon.
Report Facts April 16, 2010 11:47 AM BST
and Thommo ffs !!
Report kennythebetboy April 16, 2010 11:55 AM BST
Always too serious for me, seems to have the "humour chromosone" missing. Needs to lighten up a bit.
Prefer Mike Cattermole.
Report duncan idaho April 16, 2010 12:26 PM BST
I hear you, Quito. Correct.
Report Glasgow Brian April 16, 2010 12:29 PM BST
laptop - Zoey bird is absolutely clueless
and the poster saying Nick Luck lacks humour is spot on
cant laugh properly or smile
Report penny stall 64 April 16, 2010 12:32 PM BST
Luck is well informed, a first rate presenter, but not surprised he gets on some nerves, he waxes lyrical about every winner, even the poorest seller, bit too much to listen to at times.
Report Facts April 16, 2010 12:55 PM BST
mike cattermole ??? - you have to be joking !!!!

I generally detest the posh but Nick Luck comes across really well to me.

Self effacing, can laugh at himself, knows the game well - can't knock him.

M.C. not as smarmy as N.L.

Don't be silly ! Its well known he fancies himself as ' the James Bond ' of ATR/the Morning Line. And he's legendary for his commentating 'gaffs'
Report web spinner April 16, 2010 1:30 PM BST
different gwavy B-)
Report kennythebetboy April 16, 2010 1:44 PM BST
So far never heard N.L. commentate, worst of the lot is Thommo (100+ decibels) & the rapidly deteriorating Graham Goode (sees a totally different race to my eyes).
Best i.m.h.o. are Simon Holt, Richard Hoiles & Stewart Machin

Dangerous if you are beting in running is Des Scargill, recently called a faller that went on to win the race, laid at 999/1....ouch!
Report FreedomofSpeech April 16, 2010 1:49 PM BST
Outpost is spot on. I would actually say that nearly all presenters don't care about the punters' view. Chapman is the clear exception.
Report laptop larry April 16, 2010 2:01 PM BST
Glasgow Brian, Totally agree with you about Zoey, though she does seem like a nice girl. Personally I think Bob Cooper is the worst of the lot, a total embarassment to himself and the people who employ him, though again he seems like a nice chap, just totally clueless when it comes to doing his job.
Report rocky ttotal April 16, 2010 2:07 PM BST
bob cooper, luke harvey, zoey hannon, richard pitman, matt chapman all as bad and all on the same channel.
