Betfair too tight to pay RUK for the feeds, much better to spend the cash promoting virtual racing I guess
Report Gracie April 14, 2010 3:29 PM BST
right surely this is a joke? there must be a million freds about betfairs live video!
Report Aether April 14, 2010 3:30 PM BST
An absolute disgrace.

They get so much from commisson charges that they cannot provide customers with feeds.
Report Aether April 14, 2010 3:31 PM BST

It is not a joke they stopped doing them .

Report Aether April 14, 2010 3:45 PM BST
How are skinflints getting it for nothing you idiot?

On EVERY WINNING bet you manage to come up with, BETFAIR charge you a commission charge which is ridiculous. And they cannot provide a feed for customers who dont have RUK?

Its shambles and a slap in the face to be fair.

Report alert April 14, 2010 4:08 PM BST
Just amazes me how anyone who takes betting seriously can afford not to have it. It is a business expense that is necessary, very very cheap IMO
Report Aether April 14, 2010 4:08 PM BST
No.

When I have a winning bet they charge me an amount.

They take something from me.

I want something back.

Buda is now been silly . Now aether as i explained last night these bankers have a lot to answer . You have to look at it from betfair's angle , if they feel they are not getting a good deal from ruk , they must decline . They have shareholders to answer to every cost they incur on the books and that is why they are a successful company , no waste in any department . I think they will float this company , so the books have to be impeccable , just my opinion .
Report uptothelast April 14, 2010 4:30 PM BST
buda is coming across like a silly little boy.
Report Aether April 14, 2010 4:32 PM BST
Come to think of it, it may not be Betfair being tight. It maybe RUK, now that they are independent and all, I guess they would have more cost and such and therefore, want more from Betfair.

I guess we don't really know the politics behind this for the time being.
Report tutan April 14, 2010 4:32 PM BST
buda should grow up . showing himself up now , on the other thread .
Report Aether April 14, 2010 4:35 PM BST
Sometimes we have to just take everything on the chin.

I mean I dont really mind an extra £20 a month, but I don't bet daily. I only bet when time allows me to do so.
Report apieceofcake April 14, 2010 4:36 PM BST
I tend to watch Racing UK tracks feeds with one of the online bookies.

Small bet is all that is needed and tbh the streams are far superior to Betfair video
Report budapest April 14, 2010 4:37 PM BST
Not being silly, why should a scrounger get it for nothing, there is no justification for it;if all the scroungers paid then it would actually be cheaper, as the cost may go down, or be improved.
Report Aether April 14, 2010 4:39 PM BST

I used to use Ladbro.kes and it was OK most of the time.

I dont really mind about which is faster ect... Because I dont really do a lot of in-running betting.
Report tutan April 14, 2010 4:40 PM BST
buda . Now you have have put up a constructive argument .
Report Aether April 14, 2010 4:44 PM BST
Ok Buda, why should I be forced to pay for something, when I will only watch it at most twice a week?

I am not being tight but there is no logic behind me buying RUK, I used to have it, however, I had it because I was betting daily, now though due to time issues and such if I am lucky I would bet on Saturdays and maybe a weekday.

Why should I,pay for RUK when I will not use it very often? Just so it can make it cheaper for other people?

If you were in my shows would you still pay for it?

I get the Racing UK feed through my racing post package so I'm a bit behind. I used to receive it with my Setanta package but out of principle haven't signed up since they went solo. Given the amount of races I want to watch live that RUK cover I don't think it's value for money for me.

In my opinion Betfair should provide a video feed for all UK races to their customers. Most of the other bookmakers do and all betting shops do. I also feel they should have a feed for all the greyhound tracks they cover or at the very least provide a greyhound radio service, given that most of their customers use hills commentary.

Overall the coverage of live events is pretty poor given the market share and profitability of the company.
Report mactheknife April 14, 2010 4:48 PM BST
ATR & RUK should be forced to go under one banner for the benefit of the betting public shown on tv for nothing.
Report mactheknife April 14, 2010 4:49 PM BST
Does that make me a scrounger or someone that hates paying money to keep silly little public schoolboy types in stripped suits?
Report curious-cat April 14, 2010 4:51 PM BST
if RUK had all the courses it might be worth £20 / month.
Report tutan April 14, 2010 4:51 PM BST
The problem we have here , there are many types of customer on here and with different betting styles . Trying to please everyone and be fair to all types of customers is impossible as everyone has a different agenda .To call the guy tight is unfair , as it does not fit into his system of betting .
Report curious-cat April 14, 2010 4:51 PM BST
there are days when all the racing is on ATR
Report curious-cat April 14, 2010 4:53 PM BST
I bet more on sport than horse racing than I used to ............. and the longer there is no access to pictures on some of the major meetings the more I'm likely to.
Report plotless April 14, 2010 4:56 PM BST
Anyone know how much RUK are asking for ? Are they miles apart?
Report Muqbil April 14, 2010 5:00 PM BST
It is a big expense for weekend and holiday punters, no matter how its dressed up. Although with no commitment to a 12 month contract it would be maybe worthwhile during the summer with lots of evening racing? There is excellent coverage through the summer months.

I think RUK is £20 a month.

ATR you can get it on Sky's lowest package I think, not sure how much that it. I have the complete package with Internet comes to around £75 I think a month
Report Eltons wig April 14, 2010 5:12 PM BST
Betfair make enough money out of us on commission and should in my view provide a feed as a matter of course. All the other bookies do don't they? That said, maybe RUK are asking Betfair a ridiculous price. I wish I knew more.
Report tutan April 14, 2010 5:23 PM BST
eltons wig . The way i see it , the bookies work out the package as 1 big consortium . They will get One price divided accordingly to the size of however many of them in the consortium ,so the unit cost to them very low . Betfair would have to pay a huge price as not many exchanges around to split the cost , just my opinion .
Report lumper April 14, 2010 5:41 PM BST
Betfair could buy and sell most of the bookmakers they could also buy Racing U.K so why dont they this talk of not affording subscribtion a joke.

5 £2 bets where Kipling? Normally I just play on Betfair at considerable more than £2. Only reason not subscribed to RUK was because it was free stream on Betfair.

Elton - was going to HQ today - decided not in the end - bought into RUK online for a tenner a month. Worked fine all day.

In reply to Tutan Laddies and Billies worth 1.5 billion each, in april 06 softbank bought 23% of Betfair valuing Betfair at 1.5 billion then, chew on that.

You would think it was in Betfairs best intrest to provide pictures for racing as to increase revenue. They can afford this surely.
