My late father had named Julio Mariner as a Leger winner ever since hisa fast-finishing second to Dacylographer in the then William Hill Futurity but on the day he had just a place bet on it which returned just over 2/1.

Mighty mac, think you're a few years out with Roland Gardens, would have been late 70s 78/79, remember it well ridden by Frankie Durr. At the time i had an LBO in Lozells b'ham on the corner of Lozells rd and Roland Rd which led to Roland Gardens, as you can guess every body had a few bob ew on it! On about 28/1 winners weren't there a couple of h'cappers that won the B@H Juddmonte race in 70s, Relkino i think was one.
