I mentioned this on here the other day, but I'll say it again - unfortunately our sport is seen as gambling first and a sport second during the mainstream public Joes, which is why AP will have no chance of winning it.

Which is unfortunate, because he is a legend and deserves to.

Frankie couldn't win it (not even 2nd) with the 7 at Ascot when it had happened just a couple of months before , National will be long forgotten in December.
Report fawwon April 13, 2010 10:20 PM BST
Audley Harrison as well

When we beat Upper Volta in the Davis Cup , a tennis player will beat him.

Report westfour4 April 13, 2010 10:24 PM BST
You could throw in the horse and give him BBC Sports Personality Team of the Year Award
Report fawwon April 13, 2010 10:25 PM BST
Theo Walcott is ahead of him imo

As someone has already said Frankie couldn't do it for his 7 or even when he won the Derby and to me he is more media friendly than AP. Frankie also known by strangers to the sport. Sorry but AP has no chance. Seeing as it only happens every four years it'll probably go to one of our gallant losers in the Tiddlywinks Championships and there is also the World Cup.

the bbc will be able to showcase there big day.grand national day.the racing post will run a campaign.i,ve never voted before but i would vote for him.its different than dettori cos mccoy deserves it.i think a groudswell as long as we dont win th world cup, wimbledon etc would see him win easy.as a country we like to do the right thing.

Report TELL DEL April 14, 2010 11:14 AM BST
don't think he will get sports personality of the year but so what,
can anyone remember who won it 5 or 10 years ago, not really important is it,
but no-one will forget he won the Grand National.

And if Dettori couldn't win it, don't think McCoy will, but it doesn't matter.
Being Champ for 15 years and winning the Grand National is what counts.
