Just had a look at the ante poste betting for Saturday. Thought this looked a decent E.W sitting at 16's. Was 2nd in the race last year and nearly collared Hello Bud in the run in. Hasn't run too great lately but I'm hoping Ayr will rekindle this one. Anybody know the trainers recent form as I haven't heard too much about him.

Was very quiet mid winter but they have run well for the last month or so. Not that many horses but agree strong case can be made for him on drying ground 8lb lower than last year and 11lb lower than when 5th in Hennessey.
Poss McCoy could ride as well ?

Was thinking that it might be McCoy as it was him last year and I don't think McManus has any in the race.

Yes that is the other option as he rode it at Chelt but no obligation to ride.

No mention of McCoy though in SL story on Gone To Lunch.

I reckon GTL has been plotted for this race anyway. 8lb lower mark than last year when 2nd carrying top weight. I really fancy him, I love backing horses going in to big races without any form who have dropped loads in the ratings.. the price is generally always bigger than it should be. Good luck anyone who backs him anyway, the trainer definitely sounded bullish.

Especially as the ground will be so different for many of the horses that come into the race in 'form'

Yeah definitely, he loves this time of year and the quick ground that goes with it. Can't say he's been totally out of form this season anyway, 5th in the Hennessy off 11lb higher in the ratings. He just has to be placed if there aren't any accidents, trainer said something about a muscle problem being sorted too.. but I don't know if this is an excuse in advance for him showing improved form after winning come sat! ;)

yes i backed gone to lunch in hennessy but it rained a little too much during the preceeding days. been waiting for the right ground ever since so sat could be the day. having said that the horse has looked VERY disinterested all winter

I hope they put the blinkers back on or use a visor to spark him up a bit, definitely handicapped to win imo.

Traded at 1.5 last year, looked as if he might get up at one time.
