On Saturday McCoy rode Don't Push It to claim racing's most coveted prize at the 15th attempt.
However he was caught out by police after answering his mobile phone in Walton Vale while driving away from the Liverpool racecourse.
The call was from his mother in Northern Ireland, who doubtless wanted to offer her congratulations and share in her son's moment.
The authorities were unsympathetic, issuing him with the fine and adding three points to his licence.
"We can confirm that a 35-year-old man from Oxfordshire was issued with a fixed penalty notice for using a mobile phone while driving," Merseyside Police stated.
He continued on his way with wife Chanelle, two-year-old daughter Eve and trainer Jonjo O'Neill, to be greeted at his stables in Ford, Gloucestershire by hundreds of fans.
The heavily-backed punters' favourite is estimated to have cost the betting industry £50 million with his romantic triumph.
