mussleburgh man - to answer i choose horse under 4.5 (losses are not big), look for 70 a day after commision. When i hit this i stop and wait for the next day. whether it is sat or sun i dont care 70 is the marker. but you need to be disciplined,if my first lay is a loser for me i stop and wait for the next day.

i have done this before but chased and lost profits and basically gambled, i feel i have turned a corner but all in the D I S C I P L I N E. learn to take your losses. if i make 70 a day and bet 300 days of the year with an 70 profit then that is my goal 15k.

The purpose of this thread is to randomly pick 1 horse per day (no bigger than 9/1)

This thread brings back unpleasant memories, a few years ago I was having a bad time could hardly find a winner from one week to another, decided that I would chance my arm at the laying lark, I kid you not I proceeded to lay 8 concecutive winners ranging in price fropm 4s too 8s it done for me for quite a while. Mussleburgh Man I wish you plenty of luck.

Jesus, that's like 100,000/1! Out of interest, what was your selection method?

To be fair if MM said he was using a pin to randomly select a horse to BACK most people would say no chance of showing a profit. So why won't it work in reverse?

GL to MM. If you stick to one a day you've got a better chance than most.

and it's thought's like those above which show that most people have little or no grasp of percentages.... all that "if you lay a horse in a 10 race field you've got nine horses all running for you" crap. Only takes one or two winners to make one hell of a dent in your bank (particularly if you're laying to fixed stakes).

Duncan I honestly cant remember probably a combination of several things obviously all flawed , done thick end of a two grand kept me off here for quite a while, subsequently recouped losses to such a extent that now dont bet on here as I would be a weekly target for the iniquitous PC. Once again I kid youi not.

I`ve been reading this thread with interest. Think I`ll give it a go in April but but just small stakes for the month, say 1 lay a day to win a tenner laying no bigger than 9/1.
Don`t think I`ll use the pinstickers formula though.
Perhaps if the odds drift considerably by race time I might back for a profit that way.

I am being completely honest, i open the racing post to the 1st meeting it comes to, i jab a "golden pin in it" until i land on one which meets the less than 9/1 requirement and "bob's ure uncle "

all the best

MM whats your money management strategy if you lose? Do you try to cover what you lost with the next bet?

I am trying a similar system but i get stuck with the money management.

By:

Mono, i feel level stakes is the way to go... the pin on this thread has yet to select a horse whch would endanger say half the bank e.g a 9/1 shot, but it has done in the previous weeks. This I admit is a little scary, however u either live with the pin or u dont. "PERHAPS TO A LEVEL LIABILITY WOULD BE A LITTLE SAFER" but i aint changing my aproach now.

I honestly beleive that human emotion has a significant impact on the decisions we all make when laying or betting. For me this doesnt help, thus the pin... I dont think anyone shud follow this plan im just doing this to give me discipline so i dont lay more than 1 a day.

cheers

MM
