wassie,

Good evening

I know somebody who more or less did what I've proposed, and sold a shop worth £30,000 for £170,000!

Boardmarking was great fun - as long as it was a decent shop that is. Best boardmarker I knew, was an elderly lady in the Leek sadcrooks years ago who even got the jockey changes and put them on the sheets

Only problem HD is that the shop would be closed as staff on strike because they're only allowed to drink as much as they like during their lunchbreak, T.U.B.E.

A good friend was a board marker in the 60s for an indy, said he loved every minute of the job. What is interesting is the size of the bets people were having then.If evaluated to today's rates they would have been enormous.Mainly favourite backers, mainly singles.Times have changed.
He said he used to have 10 bob (50 pence) bets minimum. Not sure how much he got for marking the board, but was allowed to freely bet,the boss thought he might lose his wages.
