Amongst the more hysterical posts were idiots saying that McCoy's style forces his rides into "regular" mistakes and that he was responsible for ending horses' careers. Strange that contingent haven't had a lot to contribute recently.

tbf I think he got Dont Push It jumping for him. And imo McCoy gave him a very quiet ride. Came into the race at the close very stylishly - no massive urgings from way out. Just the right amount of aggression when the horse idled in front.

dananders, at least you're on here defending your position. I don't agree with it though. His astoundingly consistent and impressive strike rate from a huge number of rides, many of whom are mediocre (he certainly rides many more mediocre beasts than Walsh, Geraghty and so on), demonstrate his versatility and judgment - even if your eyes tell you differently.
The stats for fallers/unseated riders also support the position that his rides in fact make fewer terminal mistakes than most other leading riders.

Think the last part of your sentence Facts proves how good he is. Even if a horse would win it on his own he makes sure it does and impressively. Plenty of jockeys ruin horses chances.
McCoy is probably the greatest we've seen and yesterday was a brilliant crowning glory to a season in which he was ridiculed for just one ride.

Don't forget he also won the Tote Gold Trophy on Get Me Out of Here the very next race at Newbury after Denman. Incredible mental strength, best jockey there's ever been imo

dananders - they don't, you really have to spend a bit more time on this or think things through a bit more - many of your posts give the impression you haven't got a clue - trust that's not the case ?

AP has those who were critical of him after Newbury to thank for the subsequent success that Sir D has pointed out. As a result of the criticism from these learned experts, he has clearly worked very hard on his technique, and has, in a short period, regained the skill and aggression that brought him 15 jockeys' titles.
Take a bow, all those who lampooned AP after the Denman debacle.

he's won Imperial Cup, Champion Hurdle, Ryanair Chase, Midlands National, Melling Chase and Grand National.
...only 2nd in Gold Cup though!
Horses win races, jockeys lose them. McCoy doesn't lose very many though.
