Having been twice. the place is far too crowded. you can see f*ck all. idiots everywhere wanting a drink then a fight. getting in a toilet is impossible. and it's 40 quid in tatts for the pleasure!!
you might as well apply this to every major sporting occasion, its all a bit of a pain and you will get ripped off royally, but you do get to claim you were there to the grand kids...

I went 3 years in a row a couple of years ago. Is enjoyable but spend a lot of time rushing about trying to get a bet on, pint, toilet and get back to a decent viewing position for the next race. Best time I went was when it was cloudy and there was a bit of a cold wind so all the birds and the numpties wearing next to nothing only came outside for the national.
Always wanted to go to the Thursday but because of the travel time I would have to either travel back and miss the racing on the Friday or stay down until the Sunday and if I was in Liverpool for the national would feel a bit silly watching it in the pub so would likely have to go on Thrusday and Saturday.
No chance I would go on Friday. Looks hell. As busy as National day but without the national.
