:| Aintree is too much imo. So many deaths compared to other tracks it's unreal. I love racing but this is sickening every year. The best horse never wins these races it's the luckiest. I would guess at least of of that field are dead

Fences too easy to jump now. They are just trying to fly through the top of them. Most of these falls caused by horses dragging their hind legs through the top

there is acertain truth to that for me...the smaller fences (and not just aintree) seem to encourage jockeys to take greater risks with their horses than they ever used to.....

Any sport should not accept so many deaths. Sport should not be about so many deaths. Sport should not mean watching animals die in such numbers. Seeing horses twitching on the floor or dead as they hit the floor really isn't sport.........I'll stick to the flat.

Not the ones that have died at Aintree anfield no.
I make no apologies for my feelings regarding this race.
I love horses and horse racing. I have no problem with NH Racing in general and of course from time to time some horses may get injured. Unfortunately some fatally.
Most of the time the horses are given a fair crack of the whip with regards to the obstacles they are expected to negotiate.
A race that almost guarantees that some horses will be killed does the sport no favours imo.

guys I used to get really really bothered when I saw horses getting killed in racing but the reality is that these horses actually do die doing something that they really love to do......I guess if there is a nice way to go it's better to go this way!!!!!
When they are running and the ears are**ed up you know they are loving it - sad but true.
If anything can he done to reduce casualties then I am all for it. One thing may be to get jocks to pull their horses up when they have got nothing left in the tank - a tired horse trying to jump a big fence is an accident waiting to happen....!
just my humble opinion

mick the point is...they "aren't" aware of the danger that they are in....my young boy loves playing on the stairs...but knowing better i don't allow him to do it.

look, we're entitled to have compassion for horses' welfare as punters. Those who post on here like they are mere vehicles for their money and they couldn't give a sh*t whether a horse dies or not, how can you even call yourselves lovers of the sport?

I ca understand all the comments and I guess for most of us we justify it by saying if there was no racing what would happen to the horse etc etc. This must be the only sport where deaths are acceptable.

the jumps are too high, period. i like horse racing and i don't really care about horses lives but when you see them on the ground and every jump a couple of them fall you know after all those years that these jumps are just too difficult. BUT the grand national is very entertaining!

got a stairlift in for em ;-) know what i mean though....the horses are ignorant to the dangers they are facing....we should be protecting them from it....but we compromise our principles in the name of entertainment :-(
