end of day, i am a bit worse for wear so need substance to soak it all up...wandered over to dodgy looking burger bar, where they are closing up... "burger please" "£6.50 please" as she scooped the last remainer burger up and put in a stale bun... "actually i will have some cheese on that" in goes rank bit of roange cheese slice "£7 please"..."do you want some onions" "ok" i said in slur "that will be £8 please" as she handed it to me like a fool i paid, one bite..in the bin...i felt a proper mug as i slopped off |

By:
Racecourse probably demanding a fiver out of each one sold! Don't underestimate racecourses' greed.
By:
Its not a licence to print money. The racecourse charge a fortune because like you they think caterers are all millionaires. It can be a good daily rate, much like bookmaking, when the weather is right and the crowds are in but it's not a path to riches.
By:
probably right two above.....so much for Racing for Change...these people who think they know what they are doing, should stop ripping off paying public and start to chanrge things correctly and accordingly...their site is a joke and they really have no idea about the average punter / people to attract and costs to people attending...it would be nice to go to a track which has toilets that were not still in the 50's...they keep interviewing stake holders, trainers..owners and they dont give a flying *** about attracting new people into racing or what it is about...food is just the fringe..fascilities, commerce, marketing are just foriegn words to racing for change

1.80 a pint a bitter in most boozers in liverpool tonight
good atmosphere today |
By:
How much was a soup and bread?I bet it was £5.95
By:
Dont blame the catterers - its the course that need a wake up call -these operators pay huge rates to be there and have large overheads re staff. I agree it excessive and the quality is awfull.
When i go to france racing the food is top class and @ normal prices - the entreance cost is for nothing- the racings good - But the course is empty without atmosphere. So we cant have it all i guess- when something like our big racing events become popular - someone is always there to make it expensive - supply and demand i guess |
By:
there was not a lot of trade going on at any of the catering vans today and even the bars were not busy but tomorrow the forcast temp will change that ,agree the food is a rip off ,need greggs in and a decent sandwich shop with some healthy choices would be good ,even motorway priced ones at that .come on aintree you have a lot of tatts customers in today .I refused to eat the overpriced muck on offer and stopped off on the way home to sit down to a decent meal for not more than a tenner .
By:
I hope whoever served you washed their hands after having a wee.
Check finger nails before you buy. |

once asked a bloke who sold coffee at the races , he told me that 33% of his TAKE went to the racecourse...not his profit . This I understand has risen to 50% at certain tracks ....Doncaster one of them I believe, no reason not to believe him as he was someone who I trusted (since got chucked off for undercutting the races!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By:

By:
car pal

By:
jimnast,i realise its early but will you please answer my question, lol.

no worse than if you go to Wembley etc, but thats not the point..racing needs to sell itself..other sports are thriving and dont need to try too hard
