just come back from my first visit to this lovely 'gaff' track. set in rolloing countryside in deepest mid-sussex. took an easy two hours on the train from ascot via clapham junction, station is beside the track, ten minute walk. very decent food and drink in 3 bars, plenty of toliets etc
nice little parade ring and very easy to get around the small establishment. 'Parkies' not over zealous like ascot. £18 premier very reasonable. very good viewing, one big screen, top of stands can see everything. bouncy castle in middle obscured some of view, but i will accept that as it took most of the prams, screaming babies etc away from the ring. bookies were showing 112% on most races and took my £100 bets easily enough, and cheerfil too. even barry dennis looked quite relaxed.

all in all an excellent days out and 10/10 to the Plumpton chied exec.

n.b did my absolute brains on some shocking results which defied the formbook, but hah you dont win at this game every day

Late convert. Used to despise it because of lack of quality and heavy going. Now enjoy going there.

alot of the smaller tracks look bad on tv. Taunton another lovely little course, very similar in set-up on plummers but an absolute bas$$$d to get to from the train station.

It is indeed an excellent little track, but £18 for today's tripe is excessive.

I love this course, and was an annual member for years. Used to be a nice annual members (and owners/trainers ) bar overlooking the course with its own little terrace.

THEN, mid annual membership season (having taken our money), this area was turned into an"owners/trainers with runners on the day" area, Subsequently, annual members were given the toteclub area, facing AWAY from the course.

Great course, great location, sh7t management (Mark C excepted) .

My local track, just wish the racing was of better quality. Obviously get good novice chasers there usually throughout the winter because of incentive involving bonus (25k?) if going on to win a race at chelt after winning at Plumpton.. e.g. Bensalem - unlucky!

Probably going tomorrow, racing is so dire though, not even sure why I'm going.. but I'm sure I'll figure out a reason in the morning!
