I used to lay off if the horse I backed halved in price until I noticed that these horses won more often than not. The worse value the price seems the more you should have on.

All depends on the race and yard...... What you say about steamers and drifters is very true for low grade racing. But some top yards in decent races a drift does not put me off in any way. Goldophin being a prime example.
