My usual caution about backing anything for Cheltenham in March until 2 weeks before the meeting has only been breached twice so far. Golden Ace for the CH and Marine Nationale for the Champion Chase. There has been the usual stream of low priced runners being injured or disappointing in recent races which reinforces my view that the best policy is usually to wait for the 5 day decs. How many people backed Sir Gino antepost for both of the races mentioned above! On January 1 it is even money to run in never mind win any festival race.

The CH saga has meant some better prices for the other 5 in contention. I am still a solid Golden Ace supporter. Will the other mares in the market now switch to the mares hurdle?

Predictable news about CH. I am happy for Golden Ace connections as she now has the best form imo but Poniros has been the main punt today. A very hard horse to weigh up.
