I think if Fallen Angel could recapture the form she showed when winning the Moyglare and Irish Guineas she'd take this comfortably. I couldn't back her though as she's been a long way from that level since. From the market it looks like January has been going well coming into this and her very best form gives her a good winning chance. However, I thought she didn't quite run to her best last time as she ought to have beaten Cinderella's Dream, so I can happily let her win unbacked at this price.

I pretty much agree with everything Tom Segal has said regarding Spiritual. Couldn't have fancied her at all before the Epsom win, but a repeat of that clock performance would give her an excellent chance today. From Gosden's comments she's a quirky filly who needs things to fall her way, and her previous form appears to tally with the comments. It's also discouraging to see a lack of stable confidence reflected in the market. So while things might not fall her way today, and I wouldn't be surprised if she won or finished nowhere, I have to take a punt at these odds.

Shows you how right you can be Figgis but how wrong you can be, unbelievable!

Yes, Spiritual didn't have it her own way in front and they went a decent pace. Although to be honest, whatever the circumstances, I wouldn't bank on her ever running as well as last time again. In the end I did have a small place only bet on Fallen Angel, but it barely covered my winning stake and wasn't enough to win on the race. Obviously I should've just backed Fallen Angel e.w. instead, but in truth I just wouldn't have had the confidence for that.

The RP seem to have taken a positive view of the race, but looking at the beaten distances, winning time, and pace they went I don't believe either of the front two ran right up to their very best, but they were still better than the rest on the day. FA clearly ran her best race of the season and it will be interesting to see if she can continue to return to top form. I still don't think I'd be confident enough to back her to win another big one, however, as I don't see this as strong Gp1 form, even for a fillies only race.

Good job you did Figgis as it eases some pain. I’d not back Rab in a G1.

Got lucky with Audience and the cards were played right that day.

There have been many 'ones that got away'. Sondad on Derby day being a recent one, when being so involved with the other races I hadn't even noticed him running until it was too late. This wasn't in that bracket.

It happens Figgis I’d left Start of Day alone today, who I was keen on for Ascot for her form with Ombudsman from the Prince De Orange.
I don’t feel that January liked the track last time. I couldn’t quite see because of the rails, but looked like she had changed her lead at Newmarket. Today was her day on that track. If she wins a G1 shews had enough goes now.

Well I didn't back Fallen Angel to win another big one, The Matron, but I have her stepping up another 7lbs from France, and only 2lbs behind her Irish Guineas win last year. Actually I still have her fastest performance when she was a 2yo winning the Moyglare. Surprised to see Cinderella's Dream moving ahead of her as fav today, as I think even if FA only repeats her latest effort she's ahead of the Godolphin runner. In the hope she remains in the same form 3/1 is fair so I've backed her.

Very well done, Fig.
A great price on her today.

Ta, brandy. I actually make that her fastest performance to date, up 3lbs on her previous best. Blue Bolt showing much improved form in second and the rest thrashed. Looking at Cinderella Dream's prior starting prices I'm guessing she's an impressive worker, and that was probably the reason for today's move.
