Me too.  If Field of Gold is odds on he will be a lay for me.  Speed figures have been moderate throughout his career and the form of his Craven win now looks moderate.

As a backer of Fields Of Gold in the the Newmarket Guineas, I was not one who called out the jockey.
I felt the horse lacked a change of gear.
How wrong I was!!!

Very impressive win by Field of Gold but are there enough form lines between the 3 Guineas races to form a strong view as to what would happen if the first 3 in each race met again? The St James Palace may answer the question but the track, draw and going will be factors. Did Henri Matisse go to France to avoid Field of Gold or because they thought it was the right track for him? The St James Palace is on the old course which has a long bend only 3 furlongs from home so it might be tricky to ride Fields of Gold for a wide late run there. I will be having a small e/w on Jonquil as things stand at the moment but only when I know the going and draw.

It looked impressive but the line mentioned through Scorthy Champ brings some reality back. Was a terribly weak race in terms of opposition and facing true milers. The 4/1 anti post which was taken before the news of his engagement must have seemed like some compensation for Newmarket and connections burnt fingers.

Re: Mattisse he has the same profile as Godolphin’s Modern Games, having won the Breeders Cup Juvenile, he’s taking the same path. Will end up in America at the end of the year for the Mile where he’ll try the emulate the Godolphin colt, doing the Juvenile/Mile double. Jonquil (who they felt the mile was as the upper end of his stamina limit) could be there with Cosmic Year too.

The Paris track favoured the speedsters, Goldie will want a searching pace at Ascot, which both Godolphin and Coolmore know.

I think Henri Matisse is much of a muchness, and not in the same category as a serious Guineas contender. His form is at least 8lbs below a Guineas winner; The Lion In Winter could easily push him aside, similarly Ruling Court. I think he'd not be a match for Luxembourg either.

Field Of Gold is already short for The SJP. He'll get shorter unless a persistent deluge prior to raceday. The SJP is his for the taking as long as Keane does not ride for luck like he did on White Birch; White Birch is a possible against Los Angeles in the Prince Of Wales (10f).

Yep, the Luxembourg that finished and sustained an injury when behind Coreobus and Native Trail at Newmarket. I think Coolmore is thin on 3 yr old milers, apart from THe Lion In Winter.

After he never raced over a mile again, he’s not the first miler to come to mind. Hope you’re not doing an Aiden O’Biden on me Impossible and mixing trips!

The Lion is being and has been largely talked up. I know they don’t get it wrong often but he’s only won a Group 2 and with a better ride from Shoemark the form of that wouldn’t have been franked by a horse that no one (atpublicly) wants to admit to backing or to have backed for Epsom.

Guess we’ll see but agree the mile division looks weaker now than it did pre English 2000 Guineas.

Might Camille Pissaro who’s fav for the PDC be better suited to the stiff mile at Ascot than Henri M, he was getting going from a wide draw late on in the French version. All depends how he and others from the French 2000 get on over further as to them stepping back. Whilst Sageform’s Jonquil e/w is resting.

First and foremost I'd not touch any of Coolmore possibles/probables at Royal Ascot. I'd rather (if must) put a bigger stake on Field Of Gold (FoG), but will be considered silly and probably stupid too, if so, given he'd pretty ground dependent eg if sogging, FoG might even be scratched. FoG was 5/2, and Lake Victoria 9/4 for their Royal Ascot respective assignments.

What price for TLIW not turning up or becoming fav for Epsom (on the day)? I'm finding it difficult to comprehend and process Moore would choose Delacroix (Dubawi) before TLIW, if TLIW is fit.

I think AOB was being disingenuous with "that" statement about the probable ride of Moore at Epsom.

He broke the track record at Longchamp in the Guineas -  will be more of a test than what Field Of Gold faced in Ireland if he stays the stiff Ascot mile.
