Has anyone been to Keenland? I'm planning a trip to the Breeders Cup next year which will probably be 3 nights in Nashville, drive to Lexington for 4 nights, both days at the races & come home. I'm looking for any experiences others may have had of the area & particularly of the track.
Really good track.. A real shame last years meeting was run on a speed friendly dirt track, otherwise a perfectly fair dirt track.. They got it wrong last year, so hopefully they get it right for when you go chewy. I was considering it myself but am doubtful in all fairness. The turf track requires a capable horse, very tight like a lot of American turf tracks. I long for the day the breeders cup is run at saratoga myself but keenland and Churchill very good tracks imo. This del mar isn’t for me

Thanks Harry, Keenland certainly looks very nice. 99% chance of getting there for us if other factors don't reappear. Del Mar would have been good for some winter sun but I agree I don't like the look of it for Breeders Cup.

Sounds like a blast ..... music, racing and everything in between.
Couple of "Superfectas" will do the trick Chewy.
Bin the return flights, straight up to chicago for route 66.
Couple of Harleys and your away,we only live once
Have family in Denver, hopefully travel will have eased by the time you go.Bring this to the top nearer the time if things look dodgy, they might be able to give you the views from their end,if that helps in any way.
Enjoy the ride.

Cheers Noc. We've booked two Airbnb's with full refunds up to a week before arrival, hopefully we'll make it but who knows? I've never ridden a motorbike with gears without falling off, the last time was about 35 years ago, I'll skip the Harley thanks!! Nashville & Lexington both look good, thats partly why we chose Keenland, Santa Anita can wait!

Hi Harry, 9 weeks tomorrow we go. I don't follow US racing so no ideas yet, any suggestions greatly appreciated. I'm really looking forward to it. Nashville looks great & 2 days racing, what can you want? Although 1 lad wants to fire an M16 assault rifle

I quite like the sound of getting on the end of an m16 rifleeither that or a Gatling gun
I’ve had a little on epicenter at big odds for the classic, I’m not convinced of his figure yesterday though. I’ll let you if I come up with anything, I’m working on it like I normally do this time of year. I do quite like one in the sprint turf but I’ve talked myself out it.
That’ll be a great trip, everything up in the air betting wise at the moment for me as not sure who will go to what races

He is the one out of the 3 top notchers, who gives himself a chance to get the distance flightline. He hasn’t met much flightline so be nice to see him against some proper opposition. I’ve not seen who is turning up in the pacific classic yet

Be nice if taiba turns up, he is a nice colt. Flightline does look a monster though so will be interesting to see him stretch out. His sire is yet to win a classic, however I do think this horse will stay and certainly hope on pedigree

flightline just won the pacific classic (10f) by 19.25 L eased down.........made all in a very fast time. what a horse. q is though, will he be at keenland?........the horse is worth minimum 60 million......will they risk him?

Looks like your in for a real treat in the classic chewy as these really are a top bunch of dirt horses. Flightline looked good again yesterday not that any of the others did any running. It’s muted he’ll take in the awesome again on route but I’d say knowing the trainer, he’ll go straight to the classic. The question is whether life is good will also turn up in the classic, fingers crossed they all make it

A son of top sire Tapit, Flightline turned heads on the East Coast in June when he won the Met Mile by six lengths.
The victory gives Flightline an automatic berth with fees paid to the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland on Nov. 5. Sadler said the colt won't race before then.

It’s a shame he won’t take in the awesome again, the improvement a dirt horse can find when racing more often, can lead to big figures rather than off lay offs like flightline is doing. Oh well the classic will be great if they all turn up. I want life is good there myself. He could make it a tear up pace race tbh speed wise and I want this flightline to prove it against such a horse, even though I don’t think life is good really gets home at the distance, he is still capable of a proper pace. The draw will also be important as flightline has been outside horses in most of his races. The plot thickens

Flightline working the house down by all accounts. Him and nest in the distaff could end up the punters bankers for the meeting looking at the betting along with cave rock who is looking a top juvenile for baffert

I said last year, Life is Good might just pay for our trip. Be interesting see where they choose for him. Seeing Flightline will be something else. We'll be on our way in 3 weeks. A sensible day in front of the tele this Saturday then keeping the powder dry til Friday 4th. One lad is already planning for Santa Anita, probably why he's not married!!

It’s brewing up nicely chewy, finally starting to find a few bets as been putting in the hours. Malathaat in the distaff is a key horse for me against nest. She’s nicely coming to the boil and I’m pleased with the bet I’ve struck. Basically trying to get a price on any horse isn’t easy with vulchers circling all the time making it hard to get on at the right time with also being able to watch all the preps.
I’ll be frank with you chewy I’m not that keen on life is good, more that I don’t think he’s been as good since meydan but I want them to gun him from the gate, for me he is the only horse that can click the fractions on the lead I want. Flightline has looked awesome but this will be the first time he meets some proper good horses and epicenter and life is good are certainly up to scratch. Maybe they have been holding life is good back for this and he is a proper tool if on song

Cheers Noc, I agree the course looks stunning. The weather is meant to be good & the racing looks spectacular. Everything is in place, hopefully 1 of my mates who lives in Shanghai will get out of China & meet us over there. The trip to the Shooting range is booked I'll report back in 3 weeks.

Couldn’t see much but flightline worked nicely in his second last prep run before shipping to keenland not that I could see much in the dark. I thought life is good worked lovely in a maintenance workout. He just glides and looks on song in his preparation. This could be great duel if they both make the front but I’d doubt whether flightline could lay a glove on life is good from the gate. Nicely brewing up to the big race. Have fun chewy. A lot of races looking quite open affairs betting wise for various reasons. I don’t really do the juvenile turf races myself but an open competitive feel to the whole meeting betting wise

What an experience. If you get the chance to go take it, what a set up. Didn't get my hands on an M16 but did shoot a 22 & a 9mm handgun & a 5.56 rifle, all disturbingly exhilerating.
The Saturday was like a fantasy day, we were backing winners & places all day & somehow ended up in the best lounge just after the Classic & the aftershow party at the Hilton in town.

Welcome Back .... "A Lister Chewy" ... Never in doubt
Lets get down to the serious stuff ... Did you try the Bourbon, what was the course like, the food too?
Not forgetting the wonder horse, how did his performance go down with the locals?
Got me thinking now,do I add another one to the bucket list

Yes. I was on J&D Coke on the plane & grew up a bit on arrival & was on Maker's Mark. Very good. A couple of good Margaritas & a Bloody Mary with a breakfast which nearly put me on the floor, were memorable highlights.
The course was amazing. Not big by any stretch, 45k on the Saturday but didn't feel crowded. 5 mins max for a beer or something to eat on Saturday on Friday no queses at all. Spotlessly clean. We were in the cheapest section but had brilliant views of the Parade Ring & got up to the front to roar Modern Games in the winners enclosure. £8 for a pint (plastic cup) basic scran the same.
Now the big fella. Not my kind of price but we spoke to some lads from Charlie Applebys yard who said they thought Modern Games wouldn't lose (we piled in) They'd been there 10 days & had seen Flightline a few times & were shaking their heads.
I decided I was going all in, my biggest bet ever by some way. I've said on this thread earlier, I thought Life is Good might pay for the trip & when they set about it I couldn't believe what I was seeing, the rest as they say is history.
I saw Kauto beat Long Run at Haydock, an atmosphere I'll never ever experience again but when Flightline hit the front it came pretty close. A privilege to be there.
If you get the opportunity to go, don't hesitate. The best race meeting I've been to by a country mile. We're a million miles behind re organisation, pricing & general attitude to customers.

Not many will be able to say they saw him live, that will stay with you,he was brilliant on the day.
Just looked at the 2023 venue, the back drop to Santa Anita looks amazing.
Need a few NH winners first Chewy ... To be continued

Hiya Harry, I only saw your messages when I got home, BF blocked out there. I was on Malathaat too, one of 2 photos I was on the right side of, Victoria Rd being the other. If you can, get yourself over to one.
