Last time Appleby was interviewed he was clear about his next target so he was OK then. His problem is keeping his Group 1 horses apart.

Beautiful sunny dry forecast for the next 12 days so, if that happens, likely to be quick ground.
That won't suit the Derby winner Adayar imo. Love will enjoy the ground but her reappearance wasn't that exciting and the other older horses like Pyledriver, Sir Ron Priestly, Japan, Broome etc aren't top notchers and would be dire winners. Wonderful Tonight surely won't be risked on the going. Besides the three years olds have such an advantage at this time of year - witness the Eclipse. Can't see the Boy's running Snowfall if Love runs and with Hurricane Lane and Alenquer declared for the Grand Prix de Paris on Wednesday it's hard too see them running here as well. By a process of elimination that leaves Lone Eagle who should relish the going on breeding. 14/1 (15/1 on here) will be a lot shorter if it cuts up as expected, especially if Frankie rides again. I just find it hard to back Martyn Meade in such a big race, especially antepost. ![]() |

bit of a heatwave forecast . ascot 1m 4f , age for weight , they,ll water as well pros . looking at loves profile its clear this is the big one . i am sure the arc is the big one for adayar , trappy

rattling quick ground,
remember the mud lover teenoso winning the kg against a class field when the ground was quick, fantastic days |

could b ballet be in the mix ?
By:
I think AOB will seek another easy race for Bolshoi Ballet in America. Also, his stamina is not assured esp against the best in the country; Adayar needs to prove he's no one-day wonder; Love is the hotpot.

a great booster for the derby form with hurricane lane . i wouldnt be surprised to see love and adayar pull a long way clear . could be a galileo - fantastic light repeat .
By:
Hurricane Lane beat a plodder by 6l; beat Magallan by 1l who was trashed by St Mark Basilica in the French Derby; beat Lone Eagle who could not win a Gp3.
Flatter to deceive, I think. |

is rain not forecast on saturday ?
By:
Rain possible from Friday on for several days.
By:
chance of thunder showers on Saturday - but may get nothing at all - there were storms in the SE yesterday but only north and east of London
By:
6 left in - probably only 5 as would expect WT to be withdrawn unless there is a lot of rain
By:
love, adayir, mishrif, lone eagle, wonderful tonight and broome
By:
Four runners in the Eclipse ( however good a winning performance we got ) and every chance of this cutting up further too.
Absolutely pathetic. |
By:
exciting race tomorrow, impossible to lose in this race, bet the two market leaders and pray that adayar is a superstar and you win or love wins and you lose nothing, just enjoy the race and no bet for me, dont know how much the weights will balance things up, would give love a slight advantage, dont mind who wins as long as a good race between those two and the winning distance is less than a length hopefully
By:
how do the time gurus on here see this race panning out ,sandown ,figgis etc would be interested in your views ! tia
By:
havent had a really top derby winner run in this for ages( i think), so lets hope adayir is a good one, if he is he wins
By:
don't think Love will run....
By:
Maybe not if the rain arrives and it comes up soft
By:
dam sire pivotal, dont see any reason for her not to run on soft , might ever be better on it
By:
that was the excuse given when she missed the Arc
By:
oh i think there was more to it then A t ,! but with this lot who knows
By:
I think so too but it was the excuse given - so she may need to be withdrawn again to establish a consistent narrative

Hi Foyles, on my figures Adayar is clearly the best middle distance 3yo around and an above average Derby winner. Provided he comes out of the Derby well (to my eyes he didn't have a particularly hard race, but you never know) and we don't get a farcical pace, I don't just think he'll win, I think he'll win pretty easily.
By:
Would have been sweet on the Derby winner had a bit more rain arrived & they had run a pacemaker for him. Without both of these I'll just watch. Gd luck with you bets lads.
By:
No bet for me but would like to see WT win we need the lesser stables(no offence) to take some big races
By:
at the prices Mishriff looks the interesting one to me - i don't see where the pace is going to come from which might suit him
By:
Backed the front two. Anticipate Love being held up and hoping her mile speed can get her in front at the business end. If not hope Adayar prevails.

Tricky little race…I’ve got my own opinion about adayar but will not knock him as he’s clearly good.
On my new stuff..I’ve got lone eagle much the best at the weights and have played at the odds. I think he’s a proper colt and is stepping forward run by run. We will see all the best. |

Bangkok winning at York at 16.0 beating Mohaafeth at 1.8 is a timely reminder that anything can win any race at any time.
In the KG, now that there hasn't been any rain and the ground is racing fast, I can't find any value in this race. The market has it right and not even dutching the front two appeals. The cases for both Love and for Adayar look solid but I wouldn't be surprised if Mishrif runs a blinder. I have one slight concern in the back of mind about Adayar is that on the day before Epsom he was trading at 55.0 on BF and he eventually ended up at 18.0.Obviously there was considerable late money for it but Godolphin/Appleby are not like Coolmore when it comes to backing horses so where did that money come from? On the prices, he was well behind Hurricane Lane who was clearly the stable no. 1. Nevertheless, the figures were good, it was no fluke, and if he gets beaten it be anything to do with his Derby price. But still..... I think that Lone Eagle is flattered by finishing so close to Hurricane Lane and Broome has a level that is below this. No bet for me. There are better bets elsewhere today. |
By:
won't be anything to do with his Derby price
By:
Played winners. Back to the drawing board for me

By:
Good horse. Still improving I should think.

gutted i never had a bet in the race
that was powerful display of superiority, WD backers |
