Technique books her Oaks ticket in the Blue Riband.  Trainer says she'll go straight there, which seemed like a very sensible idea.  Then has a change of heart and runs her in the worst race he could possibly think of and she predictably rips up her Oaks ticket.  Enters in the Height Of Fashion, presumably to try and rebook her Oaks ticket....but isn't declared.  What a mess.

Lone Eagle, giving five pounds all round, batters them in the Cocked Hat and the trainer starts talking about the Irish Derby.  I know he thinks this is a plum Leger horse but that shouldn't preclude a Derby run beforehand. On the contrary, it should be actively encouraged.  This is a wide open race.  The horse has Galileo on the top line and Reams Of Verse on the bottom.  He's professional, he'll stay and it looks like he'd have no problem with the track.  He'll handle whatever the weather gods throw at him too.  If a horse like him isn't running, who is? Surely most stables would have him on the horsebox?

Gloucestershire, who appears to be the best horse in the yard, might run in the Derby, but the trainer would like to get a run into him first and is looking for a race.  There are two 10f Novice races next week which he didn't enter and he also missed Thursday's supplementary stage for a very winnable Prix Hocquart next week.  There was always the Gallinule too.  By my reckoning there is absolutely nothing for this horse to run in now before the Derby.  His only option appears to be Breakfast With The Stars and a bit of a tear up rather than the traditional trot round.

I like Mr Meade and am naturally drawn to his horses but this is becoming problematic.  Are you alright Martyn?  We're here if you need us Crazy

They have not made a decision on LONE EAGLE yet from his comments he has only said he is in both the English/Irish.

I will be very disappointed if they do not go to Epsom not just because of my AP bet but I think highly of the horse.

They cannot pass up this opportunity!? Crazy it may never happen again

We havent seen Gloucestershire yet in 2021, and this does have the Derby entry. Maybe its 20l better than the other two and catching pigeons. Maybe the owners don't want their horses in the English Derby? Maybe between them the owners and Meade decided their horses are not good enough. You would think Stud owners would have a real interest in where their horses run? Why not take the view Gloucestershire is indeed his best horse to go to battle at Epsom. Trainers and Owners are not going to listen to punters ramblings on a betting site forum they are the ones doing the work and paying.

Lone Eagle, five out of six runs on right handed tracks Sandown, Goodwood and HQ. The other one at Doncaster, flat track. Do they think Epsom won't suit? Maybe De Sousa told them he didn't think horse would be suited by Epsom? Yes we would all like to see 100 runners take a chance in the Epsom Derby, but unfortunately it can't happen....If you've not backed it ante post, why worry?

*** LONE EAGLE UPDATE ***

Trainer Martyn Meade was delighted with the improvement, and at this stage is leaning towards running the colt at Epsom.

“We haven’t made a final decision yet, but it’s still on the cards we’ll run him,” said the Manton handler

“He won at Goodwood with a 5lb penalty and 59 knot headwind. He did it well – so I think we have to ignore Sandown, where he ran flat. He bounced back well, and Goodwood should put him spot on to go to Epsom.

“Obviously, he’s a big price – but I think there’s no reason why he shouldn’t take his chance. He’ll cope with the ground and the track.

“We’ll see how he is over the next couple of days and make a final decision.”

Unless Meade decides agaiinst running which now seems unlikely, you should have a first class opportunity to lay you bet off for a very decent certain win as its already 25/1 with Bet365.Haven't checked BF prices this morning. Nearer the day may be a whole lot less if you're lucky. Not time to celebrate yet but well done Cool

i think this confusion  and the aob meltdown goes to show that some owners are now dictating what their horse runs in , rather than deferring to the trainers judgement . the trainer now appears to be their biatch . hence the mixed signals

punts, and rightly so, absolutely delighted by all these possible withdrawals and non-runners from Ballydoyle.  Makes his bet much more achievable.  That is of course if they are eventually scratched, which they aren't yet!

times are changing . youre exasperation regarding the horses entries must be quadrupled by the trainer . mr meade will know the calendar off by heart  , only mixed messages from a owner or multiple owners would make him look like a .... my impression from the outside is that stoute is prolly the last trainer you cant fok with

Lone Eagle NR. I am only on Youth Spirit at 48 and surprised that it is still that price to lay.

Lone Eagle could head for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby after being ruled out of the English version due to a dirty scope.
The Galileo colt was found not to be 100 per cent when given a routine test after a workout on Thursday morning.
It was a bitter blow to trainer Martyn Meade and his team, as Lone Eagle looked to be in top form after easily winning the Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood two weeks ago under a 5lb penalty.
“We were all ready – we gave him his last bit of prep this morning for a blow-out and as a matter of course we scoped him and unfortunately there was a bit of mucus,” said the Manton handler.
“The trouble is the horse has been in great form – he was eating everything, working so well and his coat was looking great, but you can’t get away from the fact that for that race you need to be 100 per cent, not 90 per cent.
“I was devastated. It’s very disappointing.”
Meade feels Royal Ascot, where Lone Eagle holds an entry in the King Edward VII Stakes, is likely to come too soon – but the Irish Derby at the Curragh on June 26 could be on the agenda.
“It’s going to be a rush to get to Ascot, so I don’t think we’ll be going there,” he said.
“We’ll look at the Irish Derby which might suit him a bit better. I think that’s where we might go. We could still go for a Derby, but it’s not the English one.”

Statement runs in the Princess Elizabeth stakes today. Not sure what to make of her run in the Guineas but she will prefer easier ground today and this looks a wishy washy race on all current form. If I was given £20 I'd give her my backing but hmmmm..... I'm just not quite feeling it.

The yard is just not in any form this season.
