bit early but my 2 unoriginal picks are:
1-TRUCKERS LODGE- loathe to select/bet something that could not win off 16 lower last season but fancy he would have if sent for home earlier, turned up NTO and then annihilated the field in the midlands national. they say he's being aimed at the grand national, but i can never see him winning that unless the ground becomes testing. imo the welsh equivalent is just made for him. 2-THE TWO AMIGOS-fifth last year and be a stronger place fancy than the win, nice comeback run at bangor and he could be a in-running play as he usually goes off in front. good luck with your picks. |
By:
Similar to truckers lodge Sam brown is also a mud lark be great to see them here...native river isn’t weighted out of it so will be interesting if they throw the dice with the tizzards record in the race second to none
By:
Taken a little 33/1 The Two Amigos who is well in compared to last years opponents in this race.
By:
Only 13 in the handicap if Native River stays in.
By:
can't say i'm happy with The Two Amigos running in tomorrows "trial", hard race could ruin is chance in the big one,Potters corner won at the same meeting last year but that was over hurdles.
lamanver pippin also running in the "trial", might need a win pick up a penalty to have a better chance of making the welsh national its self. |
By:
The Two Amigos 25-1 e.w. for me.
Considered Notachance but wouldn't be sure he turns up or as enough experience for this and TTA better off on their last run. Can't see any reason why Lamanver Pippin would need a penalty to get in here. |
By:
you probably right with lamanver pippin but only 20 maximum in the WN and he's currently 27, and if stable mate native river turned up would be 6lb out the handicap.
By:
Nice prep for springfield fox their, should set him up nicely
By:
Anyone know the penalty for that winner secret reprieve for welsh national?
By:
Got to be favourite for the race after that
By:
I can’t use them but if anyone’s got a betfred account can still get 25
By:
Unless Native River comes out unlikely to get in with a decent racing weight.
By:
Do you know what he’ll get penalty wise for that felt?
By:
Harry, sorry no but he`s number 35 in the list so a lot will have to come out for him to get a run. Tizzard`s horse didn`t advertise his chances so I`m guessing Native River may go to Chepstow.
Can`t fault Secret Reprieve today but I would personally wait to definitely know he`s going to get a run and secondly what weight he will have to carry. |
By:
remses de teillee had 4lb more after winning the "trial" in 2018 before finishing second in the WN, so imagine would be the same for todays winner.
By:
Thanks knot...that’ll put him on 9-6.then it will be key what native river does, if he is pulled out he will be in the handicap proper so native river is a big horse
Not saying I’ve bet him, still sorting the weights out but he will be a strong favourite I’d say if native comes out |
By:
GI Mac great opening post with Springfield Fox.
4lb penalty puts him on 134 which made the cut 8 out of last 10 years. The Two Amigos ran a blinder and this longer trip hopefully can help turn the tables. As harry callaghan says Native River is key to SP's chance. |
By:
Springfield Fox's chance.
By:
aye, he went well yesterday souldancer, have had a little on him at 14's now. Lots of clues for the big one. Yala Enki fell at the first, so no hard race for him. Cloudy Glen no so good.
By:
Secret Reprieve on 134 mixed him up with Springfield Fox there.
By:
You had me second guessing you there Souldancer
NR does muddy the water,Tizzy has two on 9-08 lower down, will that be a factor. Mixture of everything in there, notably some unexposed second season chasers. Not sure if Yala can win this off current mark,if he,s ok from yesterday a decent claimer might be an option. Evident from last years renewal just how much this race means to local trainers, not to be under-estimated. Several Irish raiders entered,no idea how current restrictions might affect their participation. There is one in there that I like this far out,not sure if this is the plan just yet. 3 week break for Vieux Lion Rouge, his previous ride in this was awful,on yesterdays evidence a small penalty might not be enough to stop him,he would have to enter calculations if given the nod. Always an intriguing set of entries, tough as you like this far out. |

What connections said:
Evan Williams, trainer: "It's always nice when they go like that after a fall last time because you always worry. He was very good and that was lovely to see. The Welsh National will be next." If this native river comes out this horse could be a very strong favourite...whether you like it not he is going to be very well in |
By:
Or
By:
YE has a tough mark for sure, I'm hoping they try again, he'd be an ew bet possibly. More importantly he could be top weight, all guesswork of course; but I cannot see them running Native River leaving YE on 11.12, so weights would rise by 9lbs.
By:
Harry, joe Tizzard says Native River unlikely to go to Welsh Grand National. So the chances of the chances of Secret Reprieve getting a run are much improved. Will still need several to drop out.
By:
Yeah seen that felt...looks like we are going to get a very strong favourite as he is chucked in...I haven’t played but do wish I had a betfred account as 25 after the race Saturday was a gift. Much to ponder

New tide not running year to early says trainer...
Anyone know when decs are out? Is it 5 or 7 day decs appreciate it if anyone knows |
By:
all the rain they've had, might be lucky to survive
By:
Harry .... From last years thread, the next forfeit stage was the 21st dec, sounds about right.
Double figures the field without the forecast jolly. Secret Reprieve would be around 30th on the current list if he gets the 4lb penalty. Re-assessed at 142,that has him 8lb well in if the above is correct. The stables other runner looks no back number on last years running. The jockey bookings for that pair alone will be interesting. Any stables located in Tier 4 areas,do sporting events still fall outside the normal guidelines ? One of my favourite handicaps in the entire year, lets hope it goes ahead. |
By:
Secret Reprieve? Is he the one napped by the jockey's wife on ITV Racing whose name I cannot remember at the moment? He'll be carrying no weight if he gets in; 20 max, he's 35th.

By:
Which one felt...the one for tentofollow? or the one I’ve backed?
By:
Yes felt the one I’ve backed is in...I don’t know why but want to get up their in the 10 to follow it sickens I’m not going to do it, unless truckers comes up the running no doubt stiffing me for the one I like for the race
By:
Ah, you thinking I’m on secret reprieve felt? I’m afraid not pal I didn’t have a betfred account and had already done the weights before that race and I struggle to get interested in a 10/1 shot ante post which he was pretty quickly. I knew he would end up short though he’s well in for me
By:
Yeah Harry I was dreaming of a spectacular points haul and the Dec monthly prize with the one I had left in Deise Aba but obviously wasn't going to turn up after 2 pulled ups this season. Had a little antepost trixie which is now just a double on Not so sleepy 33/1 and Springfield fox 14/1 so will be cheering him on.
Well done OP for getting two just to turn up in the race. I backed Potters corner after his last run safe in the knowledge with his welsh connections that at least he will definitely turn up ![]() |
