The ride on Royal Dornoch looked terrible. It appeared that from the 6 fl marker till rounding the final bend, he was riding into Threat to push him out wide. I know tactics are Ballydoyle‘s watchword but this looked like all Marquand was doing was to wreck another horse’s chance rather than trying to obtain the best possible placing of his own horse. Having barged into Threat for 3 furlongs his horse got tired and ended tailed off last. Not a great effort Tom; you must surely know better than that.
Scandalous that the stewards did nothing about it.
Ya, a disappointing and unprofessional behaviour by the local stewards as it was evidently clear what Marquand was trying to do. Sadly, an inevitable incident will happen in the future - it's just a matter of time. I understand AOB/Coolmore are high profile and very important to horse racing nevertheless, sportsmanship and fair play cannot be overtaken by personal and commercial ambition by any entity.
