Defi Du Seuil is 11/8 fav for the pre Xmas 2 mile showpiece. He’s just about warranted this on the back of a good win over Politologue at Cheltenham. Surely Un De Sceaux is too long in the tooth now and Janika, Dolos and Ornua are not good enough.
That leaves Sceau Royal who will love the ground and the likely race conditions. He’s also one of the best jumpers and at 6/1 is worth a second look.
Finally we have Waiting Patiently who to me is the most interesting runner in the field. I’ve always thought a fast run 2 miles would suit him better than 4 furlongs further he’s been running over. I’m not sure he’ll be sharp enough on Saturday but a champion chase bet at 33/1 could look very big if he runs well Saturday.
At the odds I’m backing Defi at 14/1 to win Saturday and Champion Chase and WP each way sat and Champion Chase.

gone for ornua and dolos here ? marks about all one way or another and the race could throw up a shock nicholls are really starting to hit form now and dolos has to go right handed needs to find plenty but worth a pop each way at 50s plus on here also ornua a specialist 2 miler graded winner ,decent run last time giving an unexposed mullins runner 11 poiund when beaten could be decent form any way 50s plus on here too big iimo

What a great race and great day. Was in the hospitality box next door to the Un De Sceaux owners who definitely enjoyed themselves before and after the race.
Interested that WP isn’t in many lists for the Champion Chase. I thought he ran a great race. |
