I am the same lucky swine who had £40 on Celtic Swing for the 2000 Guineas at 25/1 (lost by a head having been hampered at the start)! - a good story for the aftertiming thread but sadly a true one.
First time I have got my money back through bad luck though! Not sure how lucky I am to lose a bet like that on Pinatubo! I have had previously losing ante post bets due to:
Sole to race abroad Ferry strike Injury Changed owner who preferred another And many more
Other successes include: Workforce 25/1 Going back a while Wollow 10/1 Ballanchine 20/1 Diminuendo 13/2 (big bet that one)
Other failures would need many hours to compile.
I love antepost, the joy you get through backing a 20/1 Shot who wins at a short price Is worth the considerable frustration of the did not run ones.
Celtic Swing still hurts after all these years. 25/1 and went off 4/5 and lost. And pre betfair days as well.
Best ever ante post winner may well have been Light Shift. I think it was the right name. A filly of the great Henry Cecil. I was off work and watched win the Cheshire Oaks and had a bet for Epsom.
Ante post of the jumps is more tricky. The injury count is much higher. However the French thing who won the cross Country Chase at Cheltenham looks a huge price for the Gold Cup. Look at the form, he is evidently very good indeed. My record for the jumps is not good however, with major losses going back on the truly great Night Nurse for the Gold Cup on at keast 2 occasions. He was one of my all time favourites though and a btter horse than Dawn Run who did complete the Ch Hdle/GC double.

Only £10 on Diminuendo (Cecil) at 16/1 for the Oaks after finishing 3rd in the Guineas. Then seeing her beat Sudden Love (Cumani) was enjoyable and satisfying. No request for ID verification unlike that poo Betway on Seventh Heaven after a £20 antepost at 9/1 in the Yorkshire Oaks.
Hopefully, this will happen behind closed doors (at least), but please no All-Weather - I hate them.
