The probable main protagonists are Logician (been backed for the main event recently), Nayef Road (gutsy winner of the Gordon Stakes), Barbados, Dashing Willoughby (giving 3lbs), Eagles By Day (burst blood vessel), Broome and Sir Dragonet (two of several from AOB). Let's hope a market is upon us soon as there will be no antepost from the sponsor 'Sly' until final decs on 19th Aug - what's the point just 3 days prior to race?
Japan the fav for the St Leger has not been entered.
The market is up: 11 have been declared with AOB responsible for 6. The fav is Logician (3/1), Broome (10/3), Constantinople (7/2), Nayef Road (5/1), Bangkok (8/1), Barbados (10/1), Il Paradiso (10/1), Surfman (10/1), Cape Of Good Hope (10/1), Jalmoud (12/1) and Norway (14/1).
If Broome is sound, and his run at Epsom is taken on trust he's the one to beat - he stays the best there too; rated (131) at least 4lbs ahead of the rest 10/3 is tremendous value; Logician (123) needs to improve.

More bookies have made a market for the race, and Broome is just fav with most at 3/1 with Logician at 7/2. In an interview with Oli Bell at Ballydoyle today Broome did not make an appearance, and when asked AOB said Broome was in good form; this race is the plan, He did a trot, and he seemed to be in good form, and hopefully.

Only 5 go to post with Gosden fielding Logician (13/8) and AOB Constantinople (5/2) and Norway (14/1); Johnston is represented by Nayef Road (3/1) and Appleby Jalmoud (14/1). But no Broome or Bangkok or Surfman though.

I've read about how Constantinople is supposed to have put up fast performances but I don't see it myself. Has to be Logician for me, as I reckon what he showed in a handicap last time was better than anything the rest have done in pattern races.

Front two seven lengths clear of the rest and would anticipate both going to Doncaster, though I`d be surprised if Constantinople could beat Logician based on today`s race. The Leger will be an interesting race depending on who turns up.

In my view Logician only won as his previous form entitled him to, everything else bar Constantinople ran some way below form. I have Logician up only 1lb, although I'm sure the official handicapper will raise him more because of massively underrating the handicap win. Anyway, for me this form is a few pounds short of average Leger winning form.
