this fella after being prominent in the derby betting seems to have been forgotten after a staying on 4th in the dante, which on the face of it may have looked dissapointing at the time . but after a closer look it was not a bad performance imo ,he drifted like a barge all day and aob said he would need the race. ran and shaped as though he would be better for the race  not beaten far and the extra near 2f  at epsom is sure to suit . i am expecting a good 10-12 pound improvement if he lines up in the derby and that would have him bang there  ,the only thing stopping me going in extra hard is the doubt whether he will run. around 12s on here he looks the value to me

selection japan 12s or better on here ..................good luck and keep the change ya filthy animals

In interview with Gary O'Brien at Naas yesterday AOB indicated Japan ran well at York, and he needed to run there if he was running in the Derby (Epsom); the front two got way from the pack, and Moore as looking after him.

From that one could infer Japan is Epsom bound (not France).

thanks imp keep posting any of these snippets you pick up as they are very usefull and not accesable to all ,thanks again and good luck, as regards japanlast season he improved markedly from his debut 7th to win his next 2 races .

No worries. I fear him more than the winner of his race at York given his shorter price in the market than any of his stable mates, and Madhmoon (if he stays).

With AVD earmarked for the Irish Derby where will Sir Dragonet, Broome and Japan go?; prices ranging from 5/1 to 8/1 for these 3. Of course they cannot all possibly go for the same race too given Royal Ascot is just around the corner. If so, which of these will most likely be targeted for the King Edward VII at Royal Ascot?

Sir Dragonet was a shoo-in by most pundits for Leopardstown prior to Epsom leaving Broome and Japan, but which? I think the ground could be the deciding factor. For instance, if soft Broome more likely, and if good, Japan I'd think.

If guessing correctly, the value could be humongous as on the day either will be no bigger than 2/1, I believe.

wouldnt surprise me if they all ran again in the irish derby, and  worse still if  madhmoon doesnt go,   we might  just have   coolmore runners in the race .

I do not think the Coolmore Epsom 4 will all run in the Irish Derby given other tasty valuable races in the offing. However, I believe AVD will definitely run, if sound - the accolade of being a double Derby winner is commercially too attractive to forego; Sir Dragonet too he's a shoo-in for Leopardstown. And, either Japan (good) or Broome (soft) will run in the King Edward VII at Royal Ascot.

Japan may make the Irish Derby too tough for AVD, I believe.

i dont think that avd , japan, broome nor sir drag will go to ascot, at the end of the day the king edward is group 2, and theyll be after better for them,  wouldnt surprise me that the horse that came 4th on sunday  cape of good hope  goes to r ascot.

AVD has just won the Derby, and if winning the Irish one too it will enhance his stud value even more; post Irish Derby he'd come-down-in-trip eg Eclipse, Juddemonte, Champion Stakes, etc, leaving opportunities for Japan and Broome (there's at least a Gp1 race in both) to contest the other 12f possibly 14f races eg King George/St Leger. Similarly, Sir Dragonet, Norway, Cape Of Good Hope and Mohawk too.

But AVD, I firmly believe, he'll no doubt contest the Irish Derby, if sound, plus one other or two that ran at Epsom, but not Japan or Broome (if soft); Sir Dragonet is a big possibility given his stellar breeding, I believe.

I think AOB has alluded to Japan and Circus Maximus are in the mix for the King Edward VII Stake at Royal Ascot. They have others too but the picture will become clearer when they are all back in full work.

If Anthony Van Dyck drops down in trip I`d be amazed.

nice win from japan , looks half decent .
Report impossible123 June 21, 2019 4:15 PM BST
He won't run in the Irish Derby (just realised the race is next week), but a 3 yr old 12f race in Paris or the King George (both over 12f) a strong possibility alluded to by AOB. Does that mean he'll be kept to 12f and no Leger?

^^
But, The Arc at Longchamp perhaps given the Paris race is at Longchamp too or that is merely a coincidence.

im rather confused after todays race, whats he doing here, surely he,d have won the irish derby  after todays performance. [ never know might still run next week }  coolmore do have a rather scatter gun approach to races these days
Report impossible123 June 22, 2019 5:26 PM BST
I think because AVD won at Epsom thus to do the double at The Curragh which is probable can only enhance his commercial value. However, if Japan runs at The Curragh as well (but there's no need as Coolmore already has able participants in AVD and/or Broome) and wins it will not enhance the commercial value of AVD and/or Coolmore - a dual Derby winner is more valuable than a single one. Hence, it only makes sense to split AVD and Japan up given so many prestigious and valuable races to run in later on eg King George, and possibly The Arc.

On the other hand if Japan had not encountered a slight setback prior to Epsom and/or had won at Epsom he'd be The Curragh bound, and AVD would/could have run here instead. If the ground is soft or worse at The Curragh it can only increase the chance of Broome winning, conversely AVD and/or Madhmoon (might not even run, if so).
