only 2 runnings of the race on tapeta...
apart from the winner Antiquarium in the races first year (stall 3), only one other horse (stall 8) has finished in the first five from a single figure draw from 2 running's of the race, make what you will

The surface will ride a lot slower because of the heat, so will take some getting on this occasion and although I agree with Harry about his draw analysis it could be difficult to come from off the pace, and as such a good early position might count for lot.

pace looks quite assured with the johnson pair who are in 13 and 7 likely to go forward withold and soldier in and action are also likely to be up there.
just from a handicapping point of view, just 2 are on my radar and they are natural scenery who comes here from a 2lb lower mark than last year. after having just an ok winter in dubai the mare likes the tapeta at newcastle and hasn't raced on it since finishing second here last year, if rekindling the upward curve she showed last year on the surface you would have to be hopeful, the trainer is just coming into form so reasons to be hopeful of a good run
the other i like is prince of arran who is 2lbs well in off off his revised mark here and less the good claimers 3lbs he runs 5lbs well in. a big improver as a stayer in the last year his all weather form over shorter reads very well to me and was un done in a good race at lingfield last year by a slow start and what i thought wasn't a great pace to run at. anyway i'm hoping he can clugg on and get in the money and if he brings his kempton form against big country to the races he will run well
a difficult affair
a tricky puzzle to solve. pace looks quite assured with the johnson pair who are in 13 and 7 likely to go forward withold and soldier in and action are also likely to be up there. just from a handicapping point of view, just 2 are on my radar and the
Great performance by winner (and jockey and trainer) and it would have won whatever, but if there has been a more inept ride this season than the one Crowley gave Amazing Red I haven't seen it. Might as well have pulled up after 2f.
