I think Battaash has only himself to beat. If he keeps cool, calm and collected and shows the form in France when beating Marsha this race is his for the taking (easily); Lady Aurelia won this very well last year, but a year older and did not perform at Del Mar and also beaten at Keeneland just recently when odds-on; Blue Point has an outside chance if either of the main protagonists under-performed. The rest running for a place, at best, I believe.

Lady Aurelia won this very well last year, but a year older
Unless i'm mistaken i suspect they're all a year older
Battaash and Lady Aurelia are both 4 year olds.
Battaash is rated 123, Lady Aurelia is rated 122 yet receives 3 lbs filly allowance.

That race was over 5.5f that she barely gets. She won the same race last year, but her class gets her through. As a front runner, 5f on firm going at Ascot is ideal. It's also a quick drying course, so conditions could be perfect on Tuesday.
Battaash is a very edgy gelding and the occasion could get to him.

Is Battaash the best horse in the race? I think so. If so, the 5/2 available is generous, and is so mainly because of uncertainty about his behaviour prior to the race, and not his ability or potential - he was devastating in the Prix de l'Abbaye.
Lady Aurelia was caught by Marsha at York, and ran disappointingly in America since then; she won this race last year beating Profitable, but Profitable is no world beater, in my opinion. Also, she no longer gets the weight-for-age allowance this time too.

Aurelia was a once a wonder horse and who can forget when Frankie c*cked up?!
Still fast enough to win, if she doesn't hang and runs like a rocket, as she can
I'm on anyway!

As good as Battaash looked last year I thought he'd need to improve again with wfa in order to keep winning Gp1s. At Haydock I saw no signs that he'd improved at all. Of course it was his first run of the year and he may come on for it but I'll gladly oppose him at these odds. On last year's best form I have Lady Aurelia 6lbs ahead of Battaash including her allowance and even if she doesn't improve from 3 to 4 a repeat of last year's effort would probably be good enough here. There's no guarantee she's as good this season, so I did toy with the idea of just laying Battaash, but the trainer sounds upbeat that she's in top form and I think around 2/1 that she runs her race is still a fair price and I'm backing her.

WD with blue point, those runs last year were very good form in the context of the race and that meydan run 5f behind the course record holder ertijaal was very decent, blue point the ascot course specialist totally over looked that angle in the race

When Bataash made the start cleanly and bowling away over a furlong out, surprised he got beat
Tremendous run by Blue Point
Aurelia disappointing again. Given up on her now
She's cost me a small fortune most recent runs

Didn't want to back him yesterday but Battaash is the only one I'd be interested in future. The winner won on merit but it was one of those grinding wins and I wouldn't be sure about him following that up. Battaash hasn't made the necessary improvement from 3 to 4 yet but there's still plenty of time left and he was a much better horse later in the season last year.

Battaash came good in style. Hills said beforehand that he had him better than ever and he was right. I make that a 7lbs better effort in real terms than his Abbaye win and narrowly the best performance in a European sprint for a good few years.
