At the moment 3 will be missing ie Altior, Buveur D'Air and Footpad, all recent Cheltenham winners. The one time fav of the Aintree Stayers Hurdle ie Yanworth is absent as well, but still entered for the Irish equivalent at Punchestown; the fav and 2nd in the Stayers Hurdle at Chelenham ie Sam Spinner and Supasundae would not be doing battle with each other again as Supasundae has been rerouted to the Aintree Hurdle.
Apart from the Grand National race itself other Grade 1 races will be conspicuously less competitive this renewal, I believe.

On the contrary, they will be more competitive, as Altior, Buveur D'Air and Footpad would all have been well odds on, and very likely winners.

I'm not surprised Altior is re-routed to the celebration chase, he had a hard race at Cheltenham, so the extra 2 weeks is a bonus.
Buveur D'Air has mucus issues, although may run at Punchestown.
As for Footpad, WM obviously keeping him fresh for the trainers title

Sorry, I meant quality rather than competitiveness. However, I do hope hope those unable to make Aintree could make Punchestown eg Footpad, Buveur D'air, Redicean and Yanworth.
