Dont know about anyone else but Im going round in circles trying to pick the national winner so Im having a pop at this race instead given theres only 18 of the four legged buggers!

For me one horse stands out like a sore thumb in handicapping terms and its Henry Parry Morgan. Peter Bowen regularly targets handicaps at this meeting and Ayr and Id be very surprised if this race hasnt been the aim for a good while.

Granted the horse (or Bowen) havent had the most productive winter but then his horses very rarely do but once spring has sprung he is definitely one to watch. The form of his 2nd in last years 3 mile chase won by Native River (now rated 167), Blaklion 3rd (156) and 4th Un Temps Pour Tout (160) surely throws him in off 138 tomorrow!

Although he hasnt won this year he has run a couple of half decent races to suggest that run wasnt a fluke and he wasnt knocked about when down the field at the festival.

He's not a massive price given the competitive nature of the race and Id like to have seen a Bowen winner on the board this week somewhere but even so 12-1 will do given he potentially has a stone in hand if he bounces back to form.

And anyway, win lose or draw I'll still be quids in when Houblon Des Obeaux wins the national just under two hours later ExcitedExcitedExcited

With your recent 4th and excellent overviews I have decided to have a punt on the nose even though I am not into National Hunt. Your one-two in the Cambridgeshire though betilyerded is fresh in the mind. Good luck mate.

Good luck with HPM - he needs to deliver the promise his followers know he's got.

I'm happy with the 7/1 taken this afternoon on Emerging Force

I JUST KNOW 11-1, Sue Smith likes a winner at this meeting.

Nice summary BTYD

Travelled like a dream in the grade 1 at this meeting last year, giving best late on to NR.

Only doubt here was the ground being too lively, the times from the chase course yesterday were still

outside standard,by some way.

No excuses today,if Bowen has him right,he has an outstanding chance at the weights.

GL to those playing.

Never raised a gallop Cry

TBH stable form was a concern and Im guessing the ground was too quick.Even so...

Listened to the race on the radio and just caught up with the video. Apparently he was the paddock pick.

IMO HPM got an absolutely shocking start, backed off the the first two and from then on was playing catch-up.

To finish 6th was quite an achievement given how prominent the first 5 were and that the stable isnt firing. Im ready to give him another chance in the Whitbread (sorry, Bet365) chase for which he was backed into favouritism last year and was travelling well when falling on the second circuit.

Not sure what price he is but hopefully he bypasses Ayr for Sandown and in between the stable gets a winner or two.

Fair assessment, got this one wrong on the day, never involved from the off.

Saw the two entries, could be he wants that extra distance now, stayed on steadily.

Interesting where he goes next, not given up him just yet.
