Video quality not great, but that is all we got right now.
A brilliant performance from The Gurkha clear winner by 5.5 lenghts with the rest pretty much bunched together. Rating this race will not be easy, with the second and third falling below standards for the race itself.
On my ratings I would go 124 for the winner, which would put the 2nd First Selection 109 some 15 lb behind the winner and just a standard Group3 winner give or take a few lb. It should be interesting how handiccapers react to this victory, but impressive it was.
Just watching the video again, there must some doubt about him staying or being better at 12 furlongs, he took them apart a good furlong out, surely too much speed, and his dam Chintz was a 7f group winner?, ok further down the dam line 12f winners are to be seen, and the mix with Galileo could produce anything, but verdict for me is 10f will be optimum, and best surely the mile or even 7f. AOB always seems to revert us to the boys with his after race comments(not always accurate?), I hope we have a superstar with scope to stay. This was just his 3rd run, and a 124 rating is amazing, I suppose I am confused by his first race defeat, but this is nothing new, but does detract opinion a little.

Interesting you should say this brain dead jockeys, I always assume a slower pace gives the speedsters that can settle a much bigger chance, with that in mind then it is even more remarkable he took them apart a furlong out, perhaps not such a slow early pace? will have to check out the time gurus opinions.

There's a theory doing the rounds that some of the also rans were in the stalls an awful long time waiting for The Ghurka to be re-shod. First three finishers all amongst last four to be loaded though I accept it was really a case of TG first, the rest nowhere - hard to knock TG but suspect some of the others might have underperformed.
